Lila was malnourished young girl, often overlooked. The only positives in her life where her amazing parents, and her love to play with pretend swords. She often found herself searching for, picking up cool sticks, and play fighting with her loving parents.
She wished that one day she would have the opportunity to go too one of the mysterious contentment's, becoming famous in the process. Her parents always applauded her, telling her that she would definitely have the chance to go.
Lila glanced at the surrounding, enjoying the lushes foliage covering her view. She breathed in the fresh air, while smelling the fresh cut grass. Looking down at the old and broken chair that she was sitting in, she smiled.
Lila walked around her small, run down house. Trees surrounded the whole house except for the dirt path which lead back to the city. Lila meandered on around the house until she made it to the front where she noticed a man in a robe.
He was talking to her parents with a grim look.
"The war has begun. Because of how strong both your cores are, you will both be enlisted in the army. Effective immediately."
Lila's parents both began to cry. They turned their heads wiping off their tears, then stared at Lila directly in the eyes. They both slowly walked over, dragging both feet along the now dying grass. Once they reached Lila the mom put her hands on her face.
"Baby, your mommy and daddy both have to go somewhere for a little while. We wont be back for a while."
Lila's mommy wept.
"will you swing your sword one last time for me baby."
Lila immediately burst into tears. She picked up the stick she always carried around with her and swung. Her face redden and scrunched up as she kept swinging. She stopped and stared at both of her parents whose eyes where red and puffy.
"Do you have to go!"
Her parents both bent over and gave her a hug, burying her face in their chest. They got up and didn't look back as their daughter fell over crying her eyes out.
Their teeth and hands clenched up. they stared at the back of the man in a red robe with the royale crest on it.
Lila looked up as her parents disappeared down and began to sprint. She ran down the old dirt path, dropping her pretend sword as her feet began to bleed. No matter how hard she ran she never saw her parents.
She left the forest sprinting, sweating, and crying. She looked around at the path towards the city. Her pink hair fluttering in the wind as she sprinted.
"Mommy, Daddy, come back! I need you i don't know what to do."
In the middle of one of the streets, she fell too her hands and knees weeping all of her tears. She curled up into a ball as the buildings began to close in on her. A car almost hit her, screeching too a halt.
A man got out of his car, clearly upset, and punted the little girl as hard as he could. She flew across the ground landing on the sidewalk coughing up blood. She began to scream as she couldn't feel her legs.
"I can't move my legs! Help! Please someone Help!"
She laid there crying and pleading for help as passerby's ignored her. Like a sewer rat people kept their distance, often moving to the other side of the street.
After a while, Lila slept. She was turning blue as the winter night was bighting at her skin. Ants began to approach her as they needed what she had.
A whistling in the air awoke Lila. Turning her swollen head towards the sky she stared at something bright approaching fast. The whistling turned into a loud roar as it approached.
Screaming could be made out, even through her puffy, red ears. She looked around noticing many people running, panicking, and crying. She could feel the heat as the giant red ball got closer.
Seeing everyone else running Lila refused to give up. She screamed, gritted her teeth, then clenched the ground as hard as she could.
The concreted beneath her hands turned to sand. She then through herself as hard as she could flinging herself through the air, flying past all of the building, watching all of the people disappear from sight.
But it wasn't enough.
The fireball the size of the city landed, Evaporating everything it hit. Lila clothes instantly caught on fire burning her skin. She screamed as her hope turned into despair.
Lila landed on the ground rolling shattering her bones one after the other. The only thing making noises where the rumble of the city being destroyed and the shattering of Lila's neck.
Lila laid there, drooling. She maid faint noises as she attempted to move anything.
Tears streamed down her eyes, as she stared at the sky.
Something clouded her vision as she laid their. It had a black beak and equally black eyes.
" Oh no... What have we done..."
A man knelt besides the dying Lila. He lifted up Lila, staring at her head as it flopped back unable to be held up. The man wept.
"Please take her to the old women. She can save her life."
He stared as the bird gently took the little girl to the sky. And disappeared as it flew off in the distance.
Lila's eyes kept opening and closing, the ground moving across in a blur. Tired Lila closed her eyes.
When she woke up she found herself on a bed, able to move, feel, and smell better than she ever had been able too. She enjoyed the warmth of a nearby fireplace, listening to the crackle of the wood burn
She gazed across the room stopping once she noticed a kind looking old woman sitting in a chair next too her. The old woman had noticeably purple hair. The color captivated the little girl who thought she was the only one with a weird color hair.
'Pretty hair.'
"Hello young one, You may call me Grandma."
