Upon waking Alexander looked around the room to see who else was up. Of course, his eyes were drawn like a magnet to Erams' bed. There he saw in the bed were Eram and Yuki lying next to each other. He couldn't hold it in. " How does he get to sleep with a girl before me!"
His startled shout woke up everyone in the room causing some distress. Michael uncharacteristically joined in the shouts. " What the, I haven't even slept with my wife yet! How did you get to third base before me? Also, yuck in the room with us here!" Michael was distraught and unable to comprehend what was happening.
Eram was passed out from being unable to sleep so Yuki woke up before him. Yuki looked around at all of her friends staring and pointing. She forgot where she was at and looked around. She looked down and saw Eram lying there sleeping right next to where she was. Her face lit up red like a lightbulb. She tried to talk but nothing other than stutters came out.
Lila was also aghast at the situation. She couldn't even make a noise. Yuki freaked out and punched Eram waking him from his slumber. "What the hell!" Eram yelled as he fell to the floor. Everyone coughed clearing their throat and turning around to avoid his gaze. Eram had to ask out of confusion. " What happened and who hit me? Also why?."
No one wanted to answer so they all turned around. Yuki realizing the huge misunderstanding quickly blurted out. " It is not what it looks like. I promise."
"Yeah sure, then what was it?" Lila shot a finger back and shoved it in Yuki's face. Eram tried to figure out what was going on but couldn't remember anything from last night, and couldn't put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Yuki quickly added on. " I'll talk to you later when it's just me and you!" She quickly pulled the safest option she had.
A loudspeaker interrupted their conversation." Welcome students. Today is the first day of combat. All of the first years will find a pop sickle stick stuck on the outside of their door. That popsicle stick will have a color on it. When your color is called on the speaker you can head down to the stadium for your turn for the free for all. Please note this is just the first-year students.
You will be matched up with people from the four different major schools. It is a free for all please keep it in mind as you fight. Anyone who is caught teaming will be immediately disqualified. The free-for-all is meant to test your survivability so just last as long as you can for a chance at victory. Another note if you would like to watch the fights you can. We have speakers set up there as well for you to listen to the broadcasts. I will be your host again like yesterday as well. Once again a quick recap I will come back in a few minutes and call out a color, if your color gets called head down the the coliseum." The Speaker cracked as his voice disappeared.
Alexander was the first to speak up. " I sure hope we don't get called on first. Also what color did we get."
Yuki was closest to the door so she opened it up and grabbed the pop sickle stick. " It seems we have green."
Alexander through even more shade at Eram. " I bet they picked that color because of me." he proceeded to laugh to his heart's content.
They all sat down and waited for the next crackle of the radio and soon enough it came. With a buzz the speaker came on again. " Ahem. Let's see. It seems the first color to go will be blue." Alexander leaped up into the air excited that they didn't have blue. The speaker crackled once more and the announcer continued while laughing. "I'm kidding you guys. The first color is Green. I just wanted to mess with you all a little bit."
Alexander fell to the ground on his hands and knees and started to cry. He curled up into a ball as the glares from his friends were stinging at his heart. He couldn't understand why god would play such a cruel joke on him. He crawled to the door like a slug leaching a trail of tears on his way there.
The group walked down the hallways and left the buildings. The group looked around at the massive amount of people walking looking dejected knowing that they probably weren't going to win. Michael was in high spirits as they walked. The group looked at him in confusion. No one could understand why he was smiling that much.
Alexander was starting to get irritated seeing him smile and decided to ask him why he had a stupid grin on his face. " Why are you smiling like that?"
Michael looked at him and started to talk matter-of-factly. " Look at the people around you. Do any of them seem like the type to be better than us? Think about it. Each one of us is way more skilled than anyone else here this should be a piece of cake."
Hearing the wise words of Prince Alexander the wannabe king started to shout. "You're right. And it is because I am here!"
Michael continued smiling and now giggling like a little girl. " You are right Mr. Amazing. You are our centerpiece and you see all of these weak people around. You better pick up the slack that's going to be left. By us." Michael grinned knowing they were about to use Alexander till he was dry.
Alexander wanted to fall on his hands and knees once more but didn't because he didn't want to be trampled. He was the Centerpiece at the end of the day, that was his job. He looked towards the Colosseum as he got closer and wondered what he got himself into.
They arrived at the coliseum a while later and gathered at the bottom of the ground area. Teachers were assorting them there. The groups kept getting funneled into smaller and smaller sections until there was only one group at each door to the entrance of the stadium. The group waited there nervously all sweating bullets.
The speaker came back on once more. " Welcome the the grand colosseum. Today we have a full audience, so please put on a show. Remember the better performance you put on the greater reward you get once you win. Once the horn blows the doors will open and once you enter they will shut behind you so please enter quickly." The speaker shut off with a crackle.
Eram spoke up with a cold look in his eyes. " Don't enter the door till I say so. This isn't a challenge about luck or something stupid and ambiguous. This is a skill test Alexander will have to do most of the work but he should be able to kill everyone weaker."
Lila looked at him with worry. " what do you mean kill?"
Eram looked at Yuki once more with an emptiness in his eyes. " This is a test to see whether or not you can survive on the demon continents. Think about the hoards of monsters. Monsters will attack anything and everything in sight, whereas we are people we get to choose whether or not we have to. We will win as long as we wait for a bit. Also, don't worry about killing anyone because of the immortality field." The group nodded in agreement. As they readied the horn sounded and the doors swung open with a bang.
Just as Eram predicted everyone bolted out of the doors. The field was covered in blood in an instant. Around ten thousand students were fighting as hard as they could. Some students were hesitating to use their abilities to not hurt anyone but they were quickly eliminated. Once students were deemed dead they fell over unable to move.
Eram wasn't in the move to fight but he didn't want his friends to lose because of a stupid sense of self-loathing. He looked at the field and waited. Eram studied the battlefield to know when they could jump in and win.
Mark appeared behind the group and Eram almost immediately noticed it. "So why are you guys waiting?"
"Because I want to win." Eram looked him in the eyes and mustered a smile.
"Good luck" Mark vanished once more and even Eram couldn't find him.
Eram looked back at the field and once he saw about half remaining they jumped out. Eram looked at Alexander as they bolted as fast as they could to the center.
