Michael felt calm and relaxed. He wondered where he was and heard a voice answer him. " Hello, child." It was a male voice that was calm.
Michael blinked and he saw a patch of grass with a small egg on it. " I am sorry you have to see me in such a pathetic state." The egg shook every word it spoke.
Michael looked at the egg and responded sorrowfully. " It's okay. Where am I?" The egg quivered again then stopped.
" Your consciousness went into your soul and now you're looking at yourself instead of everything else." The egg talked sadly.
"Are you strong?"
The egg laughed. " There are only 11 beings that I know of that are stronger than me and 10 of them are my friends. Do you know how to protect?"
The sudden question caught Michael off guard. He thought about it and then tried to think of any time he protected anything. " No. I don't know how to protect anything." Michael felt disappointed in his answer but was happy he was at least honest.
" That's okay. I was the most responsible and protective of my brothers and sisters. I will teach you. Protecting is to sacrifice something of yourself to save something of others." The egg hatched leaving a blood pile of meat. The meat looked gross but Michael wasn't disgusted rather was happy hearing it talk.
The pile of flesh continued. " Please pick me up." Michael did as the was asked. As soon as he touched the flesh his hands burned. His mind was filled with memories that weren't his. Michael fell to his knees. " As soon as you let me go you will forget all of these memories of a long forgotten past. But this is protecting.
You will die at one point. This world is in danger and I will ask of you one thing. Will you protect it?"
Michael cried hearing about his fate but more of a hope that maybe it can be saved. " Of course. I will even if it costs me my life."
The flesh that was still in his hand spoke once more with sorrow. " At the point of your death will you let it be at the hands of the sword?" the flesh spoke as it started to decay into dust.
"Of course. If it means I can save my friends then I'd give it all." He said as his pile of rotting meat was now almost all dust.
The rotten meat said one last thing before Michael woke up. " Good then me and my brothers and sisters will do the same for you and the other piece. The sword will slay all that oppose even the evil."The meat now had a stink but it managed to get out one more word before vanishing. " Protect…"
Michael woke up with Cedric still sitting there with the void that was behind him. Michael took a look at the thing behind Cedric and wondered what it was.
Cedric started to talk. " Do not worry young one. I have stopped time and waited for you to reawaken. Also just so you're aware you were out for two hours. On top of all the aforementioned things you will regain your memories with time."
Michael went to talk and found that his voice was heavy causing him to slur his words. " So what is that thing behind you?"
Cedric smiled happy that Michael had seemed to have lost all animosity towards him. " This is called a black hole it is something from outside our planet. The gravity in a black hole is something so powerful that not even light can escape it."
Michael continued still with a slur. " So I will be able to make something so powerful?" Michael started at the black hole as his memories of the war faded and only the rest felt like a dream.
" Of course you will be able to it will take a lot of time and effort. You won't be able to make it for about ten years but I promise you that you can make it." Cedric said happy that Michael has an amazing ability.
Michael smiled happy that he had an amazing ability. " Just curious. I guess you're the one who picked out everyone's roles in the parties, How come everyone got what they got?"
Cedric laughed at the boy's cleverness. " Of course I did. I figured out where everyone would be as soon as they walked in. Of course, there were some minor adjustments when people picked teams but I was watching everyone and adapting accordingly. I left on several occasions to prepare for classes and understand the best way to put things to increase the odds of survival.
Though there are many deaths I'm trying to find a way to reduce that. For instance, with your party, Eram as the guardian because he can suffer fatal injuries and walk away from it will mean he is the best fit for taking damage. I put Lila as the spearhead because she has the highest potential to cause a fatal hit and kill opponents. Of course, I put Alexander as the centerpiece because he has a way to deal a high amount of damage to many enemies at once because of his unique sets of abilities, honestly, he has as much potential as you and Eram. I put Yuki as the Cleaver because she can heal everyone, though Eram probably won't ever need it. Lastly, I left you for a rear guard because of your gravity ability.
When you learn how to use it to its fullest, I know everyone will be protected when you have to run away. Don't underestimate yourself because you're rear guard, I put you there because you need to keep Eram safe. I can't protect him forever he has to learn to walk and you're the perfect person for that. The whole team will need you sometimes and I need someone who can protect them." Cedric looked at Michael seriously.
Michael got up and walked towards the door happy he came. " Thanks, Cedric I think I needed that." Michael left the room in awe and full of relief. He walked down the hall breathing deeply understanding not only himself but the role he was going to have to play in his life.
A few days had passed since Michael had gone to Cedrics' office. Eram had been absent-minded falling more into a depression despite the trinket giving him hope. In class, Eram paid attention and learned but did not understand. He wrote when he was told to write but didn't go above and beyond.
The boy who was full of hatred named Raj had been scheming. The one thing this steaming pile of shit had learned from his family was how to be on top and he was going to do whatever he could to guarantee it. He left the school in the night and went to the nearest city which was about an hour of him full sprinting.
He used one of the phones to let his family know about the ungrateful rat. Of course much to his disgusting parents' fury, it gave him pleasure. While he was talking on the phone a man with pink eyes approached him.
The man with pink eyes knocked on the walls of the phone booth. " Hey, I heard you had some trouble. I have some problems too i think we can help each other."
The boy smelled an opportunity. " Can you kill an ungrateful rut for me?" Raj smiled wide enough to remind the pink man of his master.
The pink man decided to get acquainted with his new asset. " My name is Hew and I desire to torture someone from your school."
Raj thought it was weird that he knew he was from a school but chalked it up to him being young. " You see this ungrateful runt…"
Hew cut the boy off who could jeopardize his mission but needed to take the risk. " Look I could care less about your sob story I need to know. Is there going to be any times that everyone will leave the school? I can't get near the school to get my target and if I can't get my target I won't get yours."
Raj frowned when he was cut off but then smiled cruelly when he heard the rest. He knew he had a deal as long as he could work with Hew. " Of course in five months there will be a tournament held in the nation of Malg. It is a yearly tradition."
Hew smiled at the information. " If it is a yearly tradition do you know about security?" Hew was hoping it would be an easy mission to accomplish.
" Of course. My older sister went to this school and needed one of the students who she didn't like to be killed so I am of course doing the same. Security is tighter on the way to the tournament because they want to make sure no one runs off and does something stupid, however, on the way back to the school's warp gates they are way more relaxed because the students are tired. I can even do you one better if you have a map I can point to you the route." Raj was happy this was going so smoothly. He thought about how wonderful it was going to be because it didn't sound like Hew needed money.
Hew pulled out a map and showed it to the boy who was going to most likely cause his death and felt relieved he wasn't going to be the one dying. Raj pointed at the spots where the group could be taken and went into great depth on the personnel a few years ago. " I will get the kids as agreed upon one way or another," Hew said.
Raj smiled as he began to turn around and leave. " Pleasure doing business with you. "
