Sophia's heart was racing as she answered the call. "Hello?" she said, trying to sound calm.
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Sophia wondered if she had lost the connection.
But then, a low, gravelly voice spoke up. "Sophia, it's been a long time," the voice said.
Sophia's skin crawled as she tried to place the voice. It sounded familiar, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Who is this?" Sophia demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
The voice chuckled, a low, menacing sound. "You don't remember me, Sophia?" the voice said. "I'm surprised. I thought you would have remembered me by now."
Sophia's mind was racing as she tried to think of who the voice could belong to. She had a feeling that she was in danger, but she didn't know why.
"Look, I don't know who you are or what you want," Sophia said, trying to sound brave. "But I'm not interested in playing games. If you have something to say, just say it."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Sophia wondered if she had gone too far.
But then, the voice spoke up again. "Very well, Sophia," the voice said. "I'll tell you what I want. I want you to meet me at the old warehouse on 5th and Main at midnight. And I want you to come alone."
Sophia's heart was racing as she processed the voice's demands. What did they want from her? And why did they want her to meet them at the old warehouse?
As Sophia hesitated, the voice spoke up again. "Don't even think about not showing up, Sophia," the voice said. "I'll be watching you. And if you don't show up, there will be consequences."
With that, the voice hung up, leaving Sophia feeling shaken and scared.
As she turned to Max, Sophia saw that he was looking at her with concern. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Sophia hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But as she looked into Max's eyes, she knew that she could trust him.
"I just got a strange phone call," Sophia said, trying to keep her voice steady. "Someone wants me to meet them at the old warehouse at midnight. And they want me to come alone."
Max's eyes narrowed, his expression serious. "We'll go together," he said. "I'm not going to let you go alone."
Sophia felt a surge of gratitude towards Max. She knew that she could count on him to keep her safe.
But as they hugged, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that she was in grave danger. Who was behind the mysterious phone call? And what did they want from her?
As the night wore on, Sophia found herself growing more and more anxious. She knew that she had to be careful, but she also knew that she couldn't avoid the meeting forever.
As the clock struck midnight, Sophia felt a sense of trepidation. She knew that she had to go to the meeting, but she was scared of what might happen.
As she turned to Max, Sophia saw that he was looking at her with a determined expression. "Let's go," he said. "We'll face whatever is waiting for us together."
Sophia nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Max. She knew that she could count on him to keep her safe.
But as they walked out of the studio, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into danger. And as they approached the old warehouse, Sophia saw something that made her blood run cold...
