Nicole spent the next few days immersed in Tyler's proposal, her mind racing with the potential benefits and risks. Melbourne Enterprises could soar to new heights, but her instincts screamed caution. As she pored over financial reports and market projections, Emma burst in, concern etched on her face.
"Nicole, your mother wants to meet with you. She says it's urgent." Nicole's gut twisted into knots. What did Victoria want now?
"Scheduling the meeting," Nicole replied, her tone measured.
The meeting took place in the Melbourne Estate's opulent study, where Victoria's piercing gaze awaited.
"Nicole, rumors about your dealings with Tyler Winslow have reached me," Victoria said, her voice laced with warning. "Be cautious. Tyler's reputation is... complicated."
Nicole's defenses rose, but she maintained her composure. "Mother, this is business. I've got it under control."
Victoria's expression turned skeptical. "You're playing with fire, Nicole. Tyler's influence extends far beyond business. He's dangerous, and I won't see you get burned."
Nicole felt frustration simmering. "My emotions aren't involved, Mother. This is purely strategic."
Victoria leaned in, her voice low and menacing. "Family comes first, Nicole. Don't jeopardize our legacy. Remember, you're a Melbourne. We don't tolerate failure."
As Victoria rose from her chair, her parting words hung in the air like a threat: "Don't disappoint us."
Nicole's resolve hardened. She would not be dictated to.
