Chapter 33 - The Full Moon Witch

"Are you sure this is really a fallen human territory?"

After entering the purple beam, Wu Chen and Sylvie were immediately teleported to what used to be his territory.

Wu Chen had mentally prepared himself to see his former city in ruins, with its people living in dire conditions.

However, the dire scene he imagined did not unfold.

The city was well-maintained, even more magnificent than the Dawn City he had once managed. Numerous mage towers stood tall, and magic-powered floating vehicles traversed through the magical formations in the air.

The commercial streets were lined with various shops and stalls, and light magic projections displayed a variety of novel advertisements.

Rather than a medieval magical world, it looked more like a futuristic city out of a science fiction novel.

Wu Chen looked around curiously, feeling like a rural person entering a city for the first time.

"Wow, this is so freaking cool! You're telling me this is a medieval human city-state?"

Wu Chen looked doubtful.

"This really is a fallen human area? Did we come to the wrong place?"

The people on the streets were all humans, dressed in fine clothes, without any slave collars. They looked clean, energetic, and not at all like humans oppressed by demons.

"No, we didn't come to the wrong place. This is indeed the Full Moon Witch's territory, and the former Dawn City is a genuine fallen area..."

Looking at the scene before her, Sylvie's expression grew more serious rather than pleased.

"As for why it's so peaceful here yet still called a fallen zone, Wu Chen, you just need to look a little deeper and observe carefully. You'll understand soon enough."

"Look deeper?"

Wu Chen furrowed his brow and looked again at the bustling street. People were chatting and laughing, some going to school, others heading to work. The life seemed peaceful and comfortable, and he didn't see anything unusual.

"Hey, a group of people just reported seeing two suspicious characters wandering around. Show me your identification."

Just when Wu Chen wanted to continue to observe carefully, a woman dressed similarly to a city inspector approached with a stern expression.

Security personnel? This is a problem. They are currently entering without authorization, essentially illegal trespassing, and it wouldn't be good if they got caught now.

As Wu Chen thought about his response, the female officer had already arrived. Her initial vigilance turned into a flattering smile as she saw Sylvie.

"Oh, isn't this one of the esteemed guests from the demon race? Welcome to our city. Your presence truly brings honor to this humble town."

The woman said cheerfully.

"You two could have notified us in advance. That way, we could have arranged for people to welcome you."

"Do you need us to arrange some guides to show you around? Or I can personally take on this role."

"Are you thirsty or hungry? I can take you to taste some of the human delicacies."

"Or perhaps to a fine bathing center? You know what I mean~"

The woman excitedly and eagerly asked Wu Chen.

"No, no need."

Wu Chen declined in surprise.

To be honest, he was somewhat taken aback by the woman's fervent attitude.

Even though humans and demons are mortal enemies, there seems to be no need for such enthusiasm, especially in enemy territory.

And what about checking identification?

With a hint of curiosity, Wu Chen tentatively said, "I'm also human and a specialized tour guide, responsible for showing this young lady of the demon race around."

"Oh, I see."

"This esteemed demoness, where would you like to go?"

The woman's smile remained, but her enthusiasm immediately waned. She no longer paid attention to Wu Chen and quietly turned her attention back to Sylvie, occasionally casting a look of disdain towards Wu Chen.

Hey, isn't that a bit snobbish? We're the same race, after all!

Wu Chen couldn't help but think to himself.

After a while, Sylvie declined all of the woman's offers, and the woman had to leave dejectedly.

Wu Chen watched her departing figure and squinted his eyes.

"I'm starting to understand what this so-called fallen area is about. I want to visit a few more places to confirm my guesses."

Wu Chen moved through the commercial streets.

"Where to?" Sylvie asked curiously.

"To the library."

Although Dawn City was no longer there, the structure of the city remained unchanged.

Having memorized every brick and tile of Dawn City, Wu Chen quickly followed his memory and arrived at the grand library he had once established.

[Dawn Library (Human Special Building): Knowledge is power; if you don't believe it, just ask the books in my hands that are as solid as bricks.]

[Building this structure in the territory grants +50 Magic Technology Points, removes the "Noble Knowledge Monopoly" debuff, adds "Everyone is a Dragon" buff, "Rise of Magic" buff, +1000 Magic Population, increases the probability of legendary mage births by 5%, and earns the achievement "Enlightenment of the People."]

Wu Chen knew the attributes of his library inside out. After all, he had spent a fortune to establish it back then.

To prevent troublemaking nobles from destroying the library, he had even formed a book protection squad, which led to a fierce internal conflict.

It wasn't until he had painstakingly eliminated the noble factions that the library was finally safe.

However, now when Wu Chen opened the system panel again and looked at the library's data, he was completely stunned.

[Counterfeit Library (Demon Special Building): Books can broaden one's horizons but can also deceive the mind. How do you know that the knowledge you are reading is real and accurate?]

[-50 Magic Technology Points, applies "False History" debuff, "Ugly Humans" debuff, "More Superior Civilization of Demons" debuff, "Demon Summer Camp" debuff, +5000 Demon Population, and earns the achievement "Deceiving the Masses."]
