"In that case, let's split up," Itachi said suddenly, his voice calm and measured. His sharp eyes betrayed none of the tension of the moment.
Kakashi and Itachi exchanged brief glances before nodding in agreement. Without another word, each of them chose a direction and moved swiftly to search.
In the dense forest, the sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting fleeting patterns on the ground. A young girl appeared from the shadows, her expression composed but her guard up.
"Slow as always," Uchiha Tsuki muttered, a sly smile playing on her lips.
Even Shisui is holding back? she thought to herself. That's a revelation worth cherishing.
Suddenly, the sharp sound of shuriken cutting through the air shattered the calm.
"Who's there?!" Tsuki snapped as she dodged the incoming barrage, which seemed to come from every direction at once.
Looking up, her eyes widened slightly.
Uchiha Itachi.
The teenage prodigy stood ahead, his expression as unreadable as ever. Tsuki immediately averted her gaze, careful not to meet his eyes. She knew all too well about Itachi's prowess in genjutsu—his Sharingan was far beyond what she could handle.
"Stop," Itachi said coldly, his voice devoid of emotion.
Tsuki didn't respond. Instead, she scanned her surroundings, calculating her next move. A moment later, she feigned retreat, stepping back as if to flee before abruptly darting in the opposite direction.
The wind howled as she ran, the dense forest blurring into streaks of green. With each step, the distance between her and Itachi grew.
Did it work? she wondered. Did I really escape him that easily?
Her mind raced. Something felt off.
Why didn't he move to stop me? Was he letting me go?
As she continued, the trees ahead seemed oddly familiar. Her heart sank as realization dawned.
No… this can't be.
She stopped abruptly and looked around. The same clearing, the same trees.
Ahead of her, standing in the exact same spot, was Uchiha Itachi.
Her breath hitched. An illusion?
But how? I avoided his gaze the entire time…
Her mind replayed the moment when the shuriken had flown toward her. It must have been then, she concluded. The genjutsu had been subtle, nearly imperceptible.
Itachi's calm, unshaken demeanor only added to her unease.
This is the power of Uchiha Itachi. No wonder they call him a genius.
Moments later, Kakashi and Satoru arrived. They found Itachi standing composed, while Tsuki stood frozen, caught in his genjutsu.
"Caught her already?" Kakashi remarked, glancing at the immobilized Tsuki. He exhaled softly, as if relieved. "Looks like this mission is over."
But Satoru's expression was far from relaxed.
His Six Eyes told a different story.
The figure standing before them wasn't Uchiha Tsuki at all.
It was a simple doppelgänger.
Seriously? Did they all miss that? Satoru thought, suppressing a grin. Too much faith in Shisui has made them careless.
For a brief moment, he debated whether to say anything.
Should I let them figure it out themselves? Their reactions would be priceless.
Ultimately, Satoru decided against revealing the truth just yet.
"Let's head to where Shisui and the real Uchiha Tsuki are," he said nonchalantly, turning away.
Itachi and Kakashi froze, exchanging confused glances.
"What?" Kakashi asked, looking back at the immobilized Tsuki.
Itachi's gaze sharpened. Without hesitation, he hurled a shuriken at "Tsuki."
In an instant, the figure dissolved into a puff of smoke.
Sure enough, it had been nothing more than a shadow clone.
Without a word, Itachi and Kakashi immediately headed in the direction where Shisui might be, their movements swift and decisive.
Satoru followed behind, his usual grin replaced by a thoughtful expression.
As they moved, Satoru remained silent, his mind preoccupied with what his Six Eyes had already revealed.
It's too late now, he thought grimly.
He had seen everything through his advanced vision. The confrontation between Shisui and Tsuki had already reached its conclusion.
No matter how fast they ran, the end of this story had already been written.
