Chapter 57 - Chapter 57

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting an orange glow over the forest as Uchiha Shisui held Uchiha Tsuki in his arms. Her chest was pierced through by his sword, crimson staining the fabric of her clothes.

"Why are you doing this?" Shisui's voice trembled as he gazed down at the girl he loved, her breath shallow and weak.

Tsuki's lips curled into a faint smile. "I didn't think I could fool you again."

"Of course you couldn't." Shisui's hands trembled slightly. "You're too smart for your own good."

Her gaze softened. "I found a stone tablet in Naka Shrine... it said the Kaleidoscope Sharingan could only be awakened through intense emotional stimulus. So..."

Her voice faltered as Shisui whispered bitterly, "So you set this up to be killed by me?"

Tsuki nodded faintly.

"You fool," Shisui murmured, his voice filled with anguish.

Tsuki exhaled shakily. "It was the task... given to me by Root."

Her admission hit like a blow.

"Konoha needs the power of the Kaleidoscope Sharingan," she explained. "For the village... for the mission... I had no choice."

By the time Kakashi, Itachi, and Satoru arrived at the scene, it was already over.

"Too late," Kakashi muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Shisui cradling Tsuki's lifeless body.

Something about the mission had felt off from the start. Why had a ninja of Tsuki's average abilities been branded as an S-class traitor? And why send Itachi and Shisui, two of the clan's strongest, after one of their own?

The Third Hokage had added him and Satoru to the team, likely suspecting Danzo's involvement. But no one had anticipated this outcome.

"This is pointless," Kakashi said bitterly, his voice low but edged with fury. "Sending comrades to their deaths for a mission like this... What's the point?"

Itachi, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. "If sacrificing oneself brings peace and stability to the village... then I would do the same."

Kakashi turned to Itachi, his gaze filled with disbelief.

"You too?" Kakashi asked incredulously. "How can all of you think this way?"

Satoru interjected, crossing his arms with an annoyed expression. "Not all of us, thank you very much. Don't lump me in with these lunatics."

Kakashi glanced at him, raising an eyebrow.

"Only a child believes in the fantasy of sacrifice leading to peace," Satoru continued, his tone dripping with disdain. "One person's death doesn't secure peace—it just fuels someone else's ambitions."

Kakashi let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. For all of Satoru's eccentricities, at least his response was closer to what Kakashi would call "normal."

"Finally, some sense," Kakashi muttered under his breath.

Satoru shot him a look. "You're welcome."

Kakashi shook his head, muttering, "You're still the weirdest Uchiha I've ever met."

"I'm not weird," Satoru replied coolly. "They're the ones who are weird." He pointed at Shisui and Itachi. "I'm the only normal one here."

Shisui, having placed Tsuki's body into a scroll, turned toward them, catching the tail end of the conversation.

"Tsuki did this to strengthen Konoha," he said softly. "I can understand that."

Satoru and Kakashi froze, staring at him in shock.

"You understand this?" Kakashi asked, his voice rising in disbelief.

Shisui gave them a strained smile. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Shisui," Satoru said slowly, "if you've been brainwashed, just say so." His expression was a mix of exasperation and concern.

Shisui shook his head. "It's not about being brainwashed. I just... understand. If my death could ensure Konoha's peace, I would make that sacrifice."

Satoru's jaw tightened. "You're kidding, right? You don't actually believe this, do you?"

But Shisui's eyes didn't waver.

"Tsk," Satoru muttered, running a hand through his hair. "You don't even realize it. You're all insane."

He looked at Kakashi, who sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck.

"This whole family," Kakashi muttered, "is nothing but a bunch of fanatics. Except for you, I guess."

"Obviously," Satoru replied with a huff. "I'm the only one with common sense."

Shisui gave a quiet laugh. "You're calling yourself normal? That's a first."

Satoru ignored him.

In the end, no amount of arguing could sway Shisui or Itachi's convictions.

"Let's head back," Kakashi said after a long silence.

Satoru cast one last look at Shisui, his expression unreadable.

"Mark my words," Satoru muttered under his breath as they began their return journey, "this mindset is going to get us all killed someday."

Kakashi glanced at him, nodding grimly.

As they walked, one thought repeated itself in both their minds:

This bunch of perverts.
