"Come on Will," yelled Prince Edgar, "You can do better then that!" Edgar was a tall man of 31 years of age with light brown hair, the prince of Metro. Someday he would be know as King Edgar.
Sweat dropped down William's face as he swung his sword with a growl. William was a boy of 13 years and dark raven hair.
Their swords clashed against each other again and again.
"That's it William! I've been training you for almost ten years, you better be learning something by now!" Edgar laughed.
William and Edgar circled each other and continued to duel.
Prince Edgar managed to knock William's sword out of his hand in a quick move, but Will caught the sword with his other hand and the fight continued.
"Very good William!"
"You two are going to kill each other!" yelled Princess Marie as the wind blew through her sunlight hair. She was Edgar's 13 year old sister, but she looked nothing like him. Instead she resembled their mother. Marie has beautiful green eyes that resembled a cat.
As William and Edgar continued their training, a group of gnomes were passing by, carrying supplies to the ark. "You're improving William." Said one of the gnomes as they stopped to watch the match.
Gnomes are very small people (only up to two feet high) smaller then hobbits. Gnomes are generally considered harmless but they can be mischievous cause play pranks on others. Like their cousins the dwarves, gnomes are hard working people love are fond of blacksmithing and mining. Other that size (Dwarves are around four feet high) one of the main differences between the two is the gnomes are usually very playfully and dwarves are usually very serious people who rarely joke around.
"Go William!" Yelled other gnome as William's and Edgar's swords locked together with a violent clash.
"Keep it up Will!" yelled Edgar, "You don't want those beasts to tear you apart!"
"Your lunch is ready!" called the halfling cook. Her name was Rose and she was three feet high with brown curly hair. "Come in here and eat kids!"
Halflings are beings that were half the size of most humans. They were quite shy and peaceful. In most kingdoms, halflings were employed as cooks or housekeepers since they were very good at that stuff.
"Good!" said Marie, "I'm starving. Please tell me that we're not having any porridge."
"No your highness," said Rose as Marie, Edgar and William entered Rose's quarters inside of the ark, "I know how much you hate porridge."
William laughed as he sat down at the round wooden table ready to eat.
Marie looked at William.
"What are you laughing at?"
"I don't understand you at times," said William, "I remember starving to death when your brother found me. Sometimes you have to eat whatever is available."
"Porridge is something at feels awful in my mouth, I would have to be very hungry in order to eat that!"
Edgar sat down at the table and spoke, "I'm very proud of you William. You have the making of a great swordsman."
Rose set a plate of bacon and eggs in front of Marie. "Oh thank you Rose!" said Marie, "No porridge this time!"
"So Rose," said Edgar, "Have all the other halflings moved into the ark yet or are some still back in Shanadar?"
Rose sat down at the table with a plate of eggs. "Everyone is here as far as I know. Any word from your pop on where we are going?"
Edgar bit into a piece of bacon.
"No word yet, I don't think any of the leaders have made any plans yet. As far as I know, we are leaving and setting down on any land that looks peaceful. If we have to, we could stay inside of the ark."
Just as Marie was eating her eggs, a centaur knight entered Rose's apartment.
"Prince Edgar, your father wishes to see you sir."
Centaurs are beings with the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse. They can run up to fifty miles an hour and can do the work of 5 humans.
Centaurs are also hard workers.
"Very well," said Edgar as he stood up from the table, "It sounds like father finally has an assignment for us William."
"I am ready," said William as he finished his lunch, "I will go where ever you lead."
Edgar turned to the centaur, "Well let's go see father. Lead the way."
