The first light of dawn painted the horizon as Aveline and Gabriel rode through the forest, their silence filled their journey with serious tension. The pack believed they were scouting rogue activity along the borders, but their true mission was far more dangerous than all could imagine.
"We don't have time for doubts now," Gabriel said, breaking the silence. "If we're going to stop this, we need to work together. Aveline, we have a lot to lose if we don't work together and we can't achieve anything with this energy between us"
Aveline's holding of the reins tightened. "That's easier said than done. Trust isn't something you can demand, Gabriel. It's earned."
Gabriel sighed, his eyes checking the thick forest ahead. "Then let me earn it. Whatever it takes, I'll prove I'm on your side. What has happened is already in the past and I am ready to prove it stays in the past."
