Gabriel and Aveline both bow down in a small, dimly lit cave hidden deep within the forest. Water dripped down the stone walls, the wet air hovering around them like a second skin. A small fire crackled between them, delivering to them just enough warmth to chase away the night's cold which existed due to the wet environment they could hide.
Aveline spread the soaked documents on a flat rock to dry and for her to get a cue from the document, her fingers tracing the strange symbols and coded messages in the documents. "This message could change everything," she said, her voice low but urgent.
Gabriel nodded, his expression firm. "If we can decode it in time. I really wish we get a cue from it, it will also help with your suspension of me having ulterior motives towards you"
As they worked, tension crackled between them. Aveline's questions from earlier still remained unanswered. Finally, she broke the silence.
