Chapter 4 - A Wolf Pack.

(Kiergan's POV)

My eyes widened in shock. "How did you know that?!"

"I saw it come at you!"

"Why didn't you do anything?! I was dying!"

"I couldn't. I just couldn't."

A scoff escaped my lips. "You couldn't or you didn't? Did you know about the fire too? You know what… Just forget about it."

My chest tightened as I turned and started walking away. Why was he pretending? I didn't even understand what was going on anymore.

But then, he said something that made me halt in my steps.

"I was bitten too!" He cried.

I turned back to look at him.

"I was also bitten." He looked really confused. "But, maybe not by a wolf, but I was also bitten by something when I was returning to help you out of the fire."

"Oh, Thane." I approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "We can walk through this together. Maybe we should find a quiet place to talk."

As soon as I said that we both found ourselves on the top of a high mountain overlooking the whole city.

Okay, I was getting tired of all of this teleporting.

"Wh… where are we?" Thane stuttered as he looked around, visibly shocked to the wit.

"I have no idea either. it's perhaps one of the powers I've gotten ever since I was bitten by the Wolf."

Thane swallowed. "I have powers too."

"Really? What powers have you gotten?!"

"Magic."

"Everything that is happening to us right now is magic, Thane!"

"I know, I know!" He raised his hands and started pacing around. "It's just… it's just that… I can't seem to pinpoint what it is, but I know it's there. I've seen it sometimes. I've smelled it. It's just there like, like—"

"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down!" I walked over to him and grabbed him by the wrist while leading him to the pile of rock behind us.

"I've been here, and I know how it feels. I know most times it's as though something's smashing your brain against your skull, almost turning you crazy."

"All I've ever done is help you!" My wolf cut in, but I ignored it.

"Did you see what bit you?"

"No, I didn't. But, I felt a sharp pain in my leg." He showed me the wound on his leg. It was a tooth scar. Or maybe that of fangs.

"Then, how did you know it wasn't a wolf?"

"Because, the bite was almost like a sting. Wolfs don't sting, do they?"

"Um. Maybe it wasn't a sting. Maybe it was. Who knows?" I adjusted in my seat, and looked up. "If these past weeks have taught me something, it would be that nothing is impossible."

"How?" Thane asked.

"Are you asking?!" I sighed. "I became a werewolf and that's impossible." I turned to look at his face. "Don't you think?"

"I'm so sorry, Kiergan."

"About what?" The apology caught me by surprise.

"For pretending. At school."

"I wondered. But, it's fine." I got up as it was getting dark. "Let's get us home."

As we stood trying to figure out how to get to the ground for I didn't know how to use my teleporting power anymore, the moon came shining its light, swallowing up a bit of the darkness. Then, I looked up.

"It's a full moon—"

A far reaching howl came out of me before I could finish what I was about to say. Yet, it stopped just as it started.

Realizing something strange, my head snapped towards Thane who looked just as shocked as I was.

I didn't howl alone. We howled. Together.

"Whoo! Now you have a partner!" My wolf shouted, while jumping around in my head.

"You said it wasn't a wolf, Thane."

"I said I didn't know what it was!"

Two loud howls behind us caught the both of us off guard and we jumped. Thane slipped and was at the brink of falling off the edge of the mountain.

As I ran to catch him, my side eyes caught Joanne and Orion, their eyes blazing yellow, and their aura commanding and cold. I stood there surprised for a split second, before I remembered that Thane was falling.

I turned sharply towards his direction and saw him hanging up in the air. My mouth flew open, and closed back immediately.

That was his power. Evading accidents.

I wondered why he didn't use that to save himself from getting hit a few moments ago.

A low long growl returned my attention to the infamous couple. "What is going on here? Why are we here?" Orion barked.

Then, I asked the question I couldn't wait to ask. "How did you two become werewolves?"

"That's none of your business!" Orion stated, glaring daggers at me.

"We didn't know until now." Joanne added. "But, we were both bitten by a wolf at the camp party."

"How?!" I asked, very curious now. A lot happened that night that I didn't know about.

"Stop answering him, Joanne!" Orion drew her into his embrace and snarled at me.

"Will you stop being a jerk, Orion!"

My response surprised me, just as it did everyone else. I've never for once spoken back at Orion. No one has ever done so.

But, here I was, talking back at him with no ounce of fear in me.

He rushed at me, but before he could get to me, he somersaulted backwards with three hard thuds on the floor, and groaned.

"Yay! We won!" My wolf shouted excitedly.

Just as he was about to launch at me again, a tempest of wind surrounded us, getting everyone covering their faces, and holding tight so they would not be blown away.

Then, suddenly the wind subsided, revealing the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen in my entire life.

Her snow white dress flew effortlessly even without the wind, so was her smooth long white hair that glittered like a silver under the moon.

Then, there was her skin. She was the fairest of all.

"Firstly, congratulations on becoming a pack. The Wild Hunt Pack." She said and I could argue with my last breath that I've never heard a voice ever so sweet and soothing.

"Who are you?!" Orion questioned curtly.

"Oh, dearest. Why don't you calm your nerves now and listen to me." Her lips curved into a perfect smile.

Orion blinked twice and smiled gently. He looked as though he was being hypnotized.

"Now that you all have come together and become a Pack. Let's talk about the assignment on the ground—"

Thane interrupted her. "What do you mean? You can't just appear like some sort of a magician and tell us this folklore of a ridicule. What do you mean about us being a Pack? What's going on—"

"Exactly! What's going on with me?!" Joanne cut him off, and grabbed the woman's hands.

"I wasn't finished, you selfish brat!" Thane shouted.

"Thane!" I couldn't take that.

"Stay out of this, stupid lover boy!"

"What?!" I growled and launched at him and punched him in the face, pushing him to the ground, while my wolf seethed with anger.

"Enough!" Orion roared, snapping out of his trance. He was done being controlled.

"Who are you to talk to me like that?!" I rushed at him and grabbed his neck.

"Kiergan…" The gorgeous woman drew my name, and slowly my tensed body became as calm as a still water.

How does she manage to soothe a person with just some words?

I looked around and saw Orion and Thane glaring at me. I had no idea what had come over me, and why I had acted in that manner. "I'm sorry."

She started to speak again, but I interrupted her. "You have refused to tell us who you are."

"I am the Moon Goddess. The one who has placed all of you on this mission."

"You are the moon goddess?!" We all chorused.

"Yes, I am. I know you've all had encounters and my name has been mentioned. However, it seems as though you are yet to understand the concept of your newfound identity. Which is why I have availed myself to make you understand."

"We didn't say we wanted a new identity." Orion scoffed.

"Says someone who has cried on nights to be given another life. You all have."

Everyone became silent and I could see pain evident on all of their faces. I couldn't believe Thane, Orion, and Joanne didn't like the way they were living. They all seemed okay on the outside.

I could say that about me, because I have cried and prayed multiple times to be given a new life. I was tired of being who I was and I wanted to be a new creature.

"I have given you an opportunity that would cost you nothing, but a good life. Only if you can do this one thing that has been asked of you."

"Find the last wolf of the sacred Alpha bloodline." I muttered.

"Yes, Kiergan. That's it."

"But, how? We do not even know who this person is."

"You have been bestowed with different kinds of power which would lead you to the person." She came and placed a hand on my cheek. Then, she moved away and paced around. "But, you must work together."

"Like I want to be involved with these rats." Orion scoffed.

"Just shut up, Orion!" I roared at him and he growled back.

"She's leaving!" Joanne shouted.

"What?!" I turned sharply to see the moon goddess disappearing into the air. I ran towards her and tried to grab her remaining self, but she vanished and all that was left was my empty hands hanging in the air.

"What are we going to do now?" Thane asked.

"Let's become a Pack!" We chorused in unison, our eyes glowing all at the same time, and so was our mind.
