Shade woke up next to the tree. When she opened her eyes the sun was rising so it was hard for her to see, her eyes had to adjust to the light.
"how long was I out" Shade asked Windor who was sitting on the boulder from before, she didn't know how long she had passed out for.
After thinking for a while he said "about a week".
Shade took a minute to stand up and walked over to the water. When she looked at her reflection two things surprised her, her wound was fully healed with a scar in its place and It went half way around her neck. Not to mention, according to Windor it had only been seven days.
"shouldn't I be dead" Shade asked suspiciously.
"do you trust me" He replied.
"Yes", how could she not trust him, he had already saved her life twice.
"Promise you wont tell anyone" Windor had relaxed now.
"I wont tell anyone" she answered.
"okay then" Windor said before taking a deep breath "some people are able to do things that others cant do." he goes on explaining what happened seven days ago. "you cant ever tell anyone what happened that night. You died, kind of. for some reason, you didn't completely die. I cant easily explain it but it gave me enough time to heal you". Shade had even more questions now than before.
"How did you heal me" she asked.
"It's hard to explain, when I was a kid I figured out how to do some things but when I showed my friends they thought it was unnatural" he seemed to be lost in memories so she let him keep talking. "one of the things I learned how to do was heal things almost instantly".
"is it possible to learn it" she asked.
"It's possible, but people who learned it are feared" Windor answered.
"could I learn it" she asked again.
"I don't think you would want to know," he said "You won't be able to tell anyone and you cant learn anything else because of how much you would have to work for it and to keep it".
confused, she said "you know how to use a sword, how can you do both".
Windor looked back at her "if you want, I can tell you if you can use it too".
"okay" Shade agreed.
Windor stood up and walked towards Shade. she stood up and faced him.
"This is the only way I can tell for sure, I'm confident that you won't die". He said.
Shade looked at him confused before sitting down and leaning against the tree, she didn't want to take any risks from what might happen if she falls over for any reason.
"are you ready" asked Windor.
"yes" Shade answered.
Windor looked unsure as he said "you do realize that if you can use this power, people will hate and fear you if they know about it, right".
"yes, just do whatever you have too" she said, she was getting impatient by now and was a little annoyed that he wasn't just telling her already.
Shade waited ten seconds...
twenty...
thirty...
"how long am I going to have t---" she felt a strange feeling in her mind that she could not explain start getting stronger by the millisecond. It felt something like a wave of power slamming itself against her consciousness. She felt like any second now she would drown in it. But something else in her unconscious mind seemed to have just woken up after being asleep for her whole life that came to fight the wave. It was a short battle but in the end the only one left was her power, the power she had just found.
