Chapter 5 - Teach me how to use a sword

Outside the cave, Shade was sitting against a tree trying not to think about what had just happened a moment ago.

"are you okay" asked Windor who had just sat down on the other side of the tree.

"why did it do that" she said, ignoring him "and against its will" she was partially crying now. There were no tears but she sounded the way people sound when they're crying. She felt like crying but she forced the tears to stay in her eyes.

Knowing he would only make it worse if he said what he wanted to say, Windor only asked the same question he had already "are you okay".

Shade was made even more furious from his stupid question. She violently stood up and walked over to him, "do I look okay" She yelled.

As Windor was standing up he was seemingly pushed back by nothing against the tree, the force was so strong he couldn't move.

He could see she was conflicted from what just happened. She seemed to be blaming him for it because he taught her how to use her psionics. What he didn't realize, was that she wasn't doing any of this on purpose. Although she didn't have any complaints with what was happening at the moment, they were still friends and she didn't want to hurt him.

Shade hadn't learned this from him, this was something that she had learned from only herself.

Telekinesis: allows user to move objects with a light force in any direction, allowing the objects to float temporarily.

However, this was not a light force. This was much stronger than it was supposed to be, it actually would have killed him if it pushed a little harder.

Knowing he was on the verge of death Windor took control of her mind even though he didn't want to because it was the only way for him to survive. Shade, losing control of her mind to Windor couldn't do anything and was forced to hold her breath until she passed out.

When she became conscious again, the first thing she heard was the last thing she heard "are you okay".

When she looked up she saw Windor sitting against the same tree, this time with an imprint of a person on it.

Realizing what had happened she quickly answered "yes I'm fine, are you okay".

"I should be alright" he said.

Shade didn't want to use psionics anymore and said "maybe you should teach me how to use a sword".

"I'm not qualified to teach you how to use a sword, I'm not a good teacher when it comes to sword technique," he said in a disappointed tone "but that doesn't mean I can't give you useful information".

The Giving of useful information didn't take nearly as long as it took to teach Shade psionics even though she was a prodigy when it came to psionics. Although she was not a prodigy with a blade, it still only took three days.

"you need to figure out how to control that thing in your head" That was the first thing Windor said after Shade kind of learned how to use a sword.

"how" she asked

"I don't know everything" he answered "it seems to be affected by your emotions".

"haven't you ever lost control" she asked a little louder.

"yes" he answered with the same tone as her.

"what did you do about it" she said, interested.

"I linked it to something in my head so I wouldn't lose control again" he said "and I haven't since".

She didn't understand what he meant but she was sure nothing would happen until she figured it out.

Shade took out a piece of paper she didn't even know she had and started drawing a map so they could find their way back here when she learned to use a sword. She didn't actually know anything about fighting with one because Windor was such a bad teacher, she only knew the basics like how to swing one the right way and how to block different angles. There is a lot more to swinging a sword than you might think.

After deciding not to go to the Plains of Kri because they actually didn't have a reason in mind for why they would go there in the first place, the original reason was because it was by the shore but they were getting tired of walking by the water for so long.

They decided to walk inland and ended up going a little backwards too which wasted some time.

There were no encounters on their journey which surprised them. After two or three weeks of walking and switching night shifts they could see a town at the edge of their view.

"I know your an elf so put this on and people won't notice" Windor said as he gave Shade a spare cloak he had taken with him.

She put it on and used the hood so people wouldn't see her face as much or her ears.

When they got to town thair was a lot of whispering between people stupid enough to think she didn't notice about how she looked like someone that was about as tall as an elf.

It was a fairly run down town with all the usual things. It had a weapon smith, armorer, a few greedy wizards willing to take whatever people would pay them for their help and some shops with various foods and common tools. It even had someone that teaches people how to use a sword, something Shade desperately needed at that moment.

After looking around at the town they decided to go to the swordsman person they didn't know the name of and try to get him to teach them.

It was a small building with lots of space behind it. The man inside introduced himself as Leon and apparently he didn't care about race either, he thought everyone should be able to have a good teacher to use a sword.

"so, your training starts now" Leon loudly said, smiling.
