Chapter 2 - His Favorite

Lou Yan sat on a black velvet sofa, he held a glass of sparkling champagne in one hand while his other hand lightly tapped on the tablet. For a moment, it resembled the typical scene of him sitting in his office in his previous world.

However, instead of the pages of a novel website or the usual meeting reports he usually had to read, the screen of the tablet displayed his own personal information.

The soft glow of the tablet screen illuminated Lou Yan's face, accentuating his well-defined features, from the high bridge of his nose to the sharp angles of his jaw. Those piercing blue eyes, usually stern and intimidating, now glanced down with a hint of laziness.

The man on the screen shared his appearance and name. His identity was that of the recently repatriated heir of the Yasha Group, having been raised abroad and now returning back to the Dragon Country to take up his position as the successor to the aging patriarch, who also served as his godfather.

As a successful CEO of a multibillion-dollar company, Lou Yan had grown used to the world of legitimate business dealings, proper investments, and lawful transactions. Now, suddenly being thrust into the role of a mafia heir? His lips curled in a sardonic smile

As expected of a Gary Stu novel.

However, despite the uncanny resemblance, he couldn't deny the undeniable fact that he and the original 'Lou Yan' were distinctly different. It was as if the man on the screen were just a rudimentary creation by the author, hastily put together without much care.

As if this character was nothing more than a fleeting mention in the book, bearing only a cursory level of knowledge about himself. There wasn't much information available and he would need to figure it out himself.

Shifting his gaze towards the floor-to-ceiling glass window, he took in the soothing sight of the light rain pelting against the glass surface. The weather and the sky outside were undeniably real.

He gently swirled his champagne glass, the liquid within creating a subtle, soothing sound. After a moment, he lifted the glass to his lips, taking a slow, measured sip.

As for the characters…

Lou Yan turned his gaze towards the slender figure of the omega lying asleep on his bed, his eyes briefly flickering with a hint of mirth. A low chuckle escaped his lips, "They're real."

Wen Yu, the omega in question, twisted and turned on the bed, his delicate features now etched with a frown. His lips had grown pale, and a thin sheen of sweat had formed on his forehead. The effects of the wine mixed with a suspicious drug made him feel uncomfortably hot, causing him to toss and turn restlessly in his sleep.

Lou Yan, noting the subtle movements, stood up from the sofa and moved closer to the bed. He stood a few steps away, his hands nonchalantly tucked into his pockets, his gaze focused on the sleeping youth.

Even in this state of distress and discomfort, Wen Yu still retained his undeniable beauty. His long, chestnut brown hair cascaded over his back and shoulders, the silky strands spread out on the bed like a dark chestnut curtain.

The absence of his hood and mask exposed his delicate, porcelain-like facial features, the closed eyes adorned with quivering lashes, a small, pert nose, and a pair of pale, tightly pursed lips that were pressed together in pain.

Lou Yan's senses were heightened, and he could detect a faint, sweet scent wafting through the air, attempting to lure him. However, he remained motionless, his will stronger than his momentary desires.

He acknowledged the fact that he had, in a sense, kidnapped the little villain, rescuing him from a grim fate. In the original plot, Wen Yu would have been brutally violated by individuals at the club, only to ultimately meet his end…by committing suicide. Lou Yan couldn't possibly idly stand by and allow such a tragedy to unfold.

"Boss?" The knock of Liu Feng on the door broke the quiet of the room. His voice announcing the arrival of the doctor, "The doctor is here, he is waiting outside."

Lou Yan's gaze briefly flickered towards the still slumbering omega and replied, "Let him in."

The doctor, a calm and composed beta, as well as the Yasha Group's personal doctor, entered the room with practiced ease. He was accustomed to being called upon at any time of the day, seemingly already used to treat life-threatening injuries or provide medical attention to those near death's door.

However, his surprise was evident as he took in the sight before him, for this was the first time he had come face-to-face with the newly inherited heir of the Yasha Group. Specifically….to treat an omega in heat?

However, he noticed the condition of the youth on the bed was a bit abnormal. Wen Tao, the young doctor, was swift in his response to the situation. He swiftly approached the bed and opened his medical case.

"Mr. Lou," Wen Tao addressed him respectfully, "I need to know more about what has happened. Has he consumed anything suspicious? Any drugs, medications, or substances?"

Lou Yan gestured for Liu Feng, who had been patiently waiting by the door, to approach them. Liu Feng was already informed beforehand so he came in and handed the doctor the glass of wine that was left with a few drops.

Both Liu Feng and Dr. Wen were betas so the overwhelming pheromones emanating from the omega went unnoticed by them. However, the power of the omega's intense pheromones took its toll on Lou Yan.

For someone who valued control above all else, the onslaught of alpha instincts was nothing short of a curse. He detested the loss of control.

Lou Yan took a few steps back, leaning against the wall as he involuntarily covered the lower part of his face and nose with his palm. His muscles tensed beneath his shirt but his gaze remained fixated on the omega on the bed.

Sensing the oppressive aura emanated from his boss, Liu Feng hesitantly spoke out, "Boss, do you want to wait outside instead?"

Considering the unfamiliar and uncontrollable nature of his new alpha instincts, Lou Yan didn't refuse the offer. With a slight nod, he spoke in a low, restrained tone, "Inform me when the doctor is done."

With that, Lou Yan left the room. Currently, they are staying in a penthouse, their temporary accommodation due to Wen Yu's condition. The bodyguards standing around the living room noticed Lou Yan and one of them hurriedly approached to make a report.

"Boss, the people responsible for drugging Young Master Wen have already been apprehended by our men."

With a murmured acknowledgment, Lou Yan made his way over to a Bösendorfer Grand piano placed near the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The grand piano exuded a sense of opulence, with its sleek black finish and polished chrome fittings.

Lou Yan's long fingers gently caressed the ivories as he took a seat on the piano bench, coaxing a soft, melodious tune from the instrument. "Keep an eye on them," he instructed the bodyguards. "Once Wen Yu regains consciousness, I'll let him decide."

Lou Yan sat tall and poised on the piano bench, his fingers gliding effortlessly across the ivories. His black shirt sleeve was rolled up to just below his elbows, revealing glimpses of his toned forearms.

Having thoroughly read the story and gone through it a second time, he was all too aware of the real instigator behind the events unfolding. He knew it was not his place to seek vengeance but rather leave it to the villain.

I just hope…this silly villain won't be too soft-hearted.

Otherwise…

His gaze suddenly hardened, his blue eyes flashed with a sharp intensity. Pressing down on a hard key, he abruptly removed his hands from the piano.

I'll take care of them myself.

He had once considered Wen Yu as merely a character from a book he had read, but now that he had arrived in this world….how could he bear to see his favorite character suffer?
