Wen Tang responded with a voice, "Coming."
She tidied up her clothes, twisted open the door, and noticed Elder Mrs. Lu with a darkened complexion entering her sight.
Elder Mrs. Lu gave her a displeased glance, "Come with me."
Wen Tang, puzzled, followed her pace.
The two stopped at the end of the corridor, and Elder Mrs. Lu spoke up, "Did you hear the quarreling just now?"
Wen Tang did not deny it.
"Since you heard it, in this household, you ought to keep to your proper place. Don't even dream of gaining the slightest advantage. And don't scheme to stir trouble in the family to alleviate your own grievances. Understand?" Elder Mrs. Lu said with a cold face.
Her expression was a stark contrast to the amiable one she normally showed when speaking with others.
Wen Tang nodded, her usual compliance shining through, "Okay."
Elder Mrs. Lu eyed her with disdain, gave her a white look, and, leaning on her cane, walked towards another place.
Wen Tang let out a long sigh.
