Chapter 1

 Dorothy, a girl from a very decent and peaceful family was known by everyone for her virtuousness. She and her Elder bro lived with their parents in a small but peaceful town. Her dad was a teacher while her mum, a business woman.

 Everything was going on well until one day, Mr Benson(Dorothy's dad) lost his job! This happened when she was still in SS 1. The reason the proprietor gave for his actions was that his money got stolen, and Mr Benson being the headmaster must have been the one behind the theft. Dorothy was got so mad when she heard the bad news.

 "Can you imagine! After working for that man for years, he couldn't even trust dad a little" she thought.. feeling both angry and disappointed.

As if all this wasn't enough, Mrs Benson's business also started backsliding gradually. Dorothy missed classes as a result of school fees drive, since there was no money for her fees.

 Ben, her Elder bro began doing minor jobs for money to register his JAMB exam. When Mr Benson saw things getting worse for his family, he decided to go to the city to look for greener pastures... Aunty Grace, Mrs Benson's sister heard of their predicament and decided to help.

 After a week, she informed them that she had found a job for Mr Benson in the city where she was staying. Of course everyone was overjoyed, but Dorothy...

 "I'm supposed to be happy that Dad is going to get a new job and make life easier for us. But notwithstanding, I feel sad at the thought of him leaving us to a place he isn't familiar with" she thought tearfully trying so hard to smile.

 Soon, it was time for Mr Benson to leave. Around 4am everyone was up, he tried to control his tears as everyone sat pitifully beside him as if he was going to die. 

 "My sweethearts" he held Dorothy and Ben closely. "I know we're going a difficult situation right now, but I want you guys to strong okay? Don't envy other children living in luxury, be patient and wait for God's time. I want you to know that I'm ready to do anything as long as you both are comfortable. I promise you guys, immediately I receive my first salary, I'll send everything to you guys okay!" He drew them closer and hugged them tight. They smiled and nodded even though they were still sad 

 He then turned turned to his wife who was already crying silently.

 "Honey, I know and understand how you feel okay? but please you need to be strong for me and the kids. It's not like I'm staying there forever,,, I'll still come every Christmas to be with you guys, so you don't need to feel sad my love.." 

He drew her close and hugged her,, she smiled and hugged him back.
