Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The mist in Ning Waner's soul

They remained silent, their expressions darkening as waves of anger simmered. A faint killing intent began to emerge, but they quickly suppressed it before Lestes could sense it. They were well aware of the current situation, Lestes was the strongest among them and had reached the eighth stage of the Qi Condensing Realm. In contrast, the most powerful of the Ning Waner three, Ling Xing Yue, was only at the eighth stage of the Body Refining Realm because they practised the yin-yang fusion technique, and their cultivation was sealed temporarily. Ning Waner and others exchanged glances as they smelled a conspiracy.

He had lured them in with the allure of a divine technique, fully aware that their desire for power would compel them to practice it. After all divine technique was too tempting because practising it would grant you immense power. Especially, it would open the door to higher-realm cultivation. Who wouldn't be tempted? What a cultivator shot after was higher cultivation

Ling Xing Was not greedy, she simply wanted to give her disciple a few days of happiness amidst the misery. Later, she and they all had joined in, dual cultivating, drowning in lust.

I brought this upon us all' she thought and tears fell from her eyes because of guilt How could she think that an eighteen-year-old boy in the fourth stage of the body refining realm could harm an expert in the core formation realm.

Ling Xing Yue's voice trembled as she looked at her disciple and maid, her expression laden with guilt. "I am sorry," she whispered, her eyes moist. "Master harmed you."

Ning Waner and Xiao Linger didn't know what to do when they heard about Lestes.

"What are you talking about?" he asked his tone a mix of concern and curiosity. "How did you harm them?"

At first, he didn't understand the weight of her words. His mind raced, trying to collect pieces and put them together to understand the meaning behind her sudden confession. As he concluded, his eyes widened. He took a step closer, his voice low and serious.

"Wait... Are you saying this is about the Yin-Yang Fusion Technique?" he asked. His understanding of the situation finally clicked

Because they practised the Yin-yang fusion art, their cultivation was sealed and he had just said that he gave they a divine technique not for free.

"You misunderstood something," Lestes said softly, his brows furrowing as he gazed at Ling Xing Yue's tear-streaked face. Her vulnerability caught him off guard, and his tone shifted to gentle reassurance. He added, his voice steady but kind. "Wipe your tears."

Ling Xing Yue blinked, startled by his unexpected response. She hesitated, her guilt weighing heavily on her heart. Yet there was something in his calm demeanour that made her pause.

Ling Xing Yue's hands trembled as she wiped her tears away, her doubt lingering but her heart slightly eased by his words. She listened, unsure whether to believe him but yearning for hope.

Ning Waner and Xiao Linger exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of confusion and cautious relief.

"I'm not sure what conclusions you've drawn," Lestes said, his tone calm but firm. "But set those thoughts aside."

He paused, letting his gaze sweep over the three women before finally settling on Ning Waner. His expression softened slightly as he addressed her directly.

"Can you explain to me how my Yang Qi is suppressing your poison?" he asked, his voice steady but laced with genuine curiosity.

Ning Waner narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze fixed on Lestes. Her thoughts churned as she observed his expression and demeanour.

is he pretending? she wondered, her heart filled with doubt.

She hesitated, searching his face for any hint of deceit and any flicker of insincerity. Yet all she saw was a mix of curiosity and concern. For a moment, she felt conflicted, unsure whether to believe his apparent innocence or trust her instincts.

Finally, Ning Waner broke the silence, her voice calm but tinged with a hint of hesitation. "As you know, your Yang Qi is miraculous. It's not just a source of cultivation enhancement—it has properties that can do more than just strengthen us. Somehow, it affects the poison as well. The pain that i was feeling had disappeared after I absorbed your yang Qi"

Leste's expression remained unchanged, but inside, he was taken aback to realize the unexpected effect of his Yang Qi. He hadn't known it held such a miraculous power. Earlier, after a session with Feng Luo Chen, he had noticed subtle changes in her when he woke, but he hadn't had the chance to investigate further. The negative thoughts from the Nine-Headed Serpent had stirred him, forcing him to leave in haste. But now, hearing this, his mind raced as he analyzed the situation and, after a moment of contemplation, finally reached a conclusion.

"My soul is immortal, and there are other factors at play as well," he thought to himself. "I don't remember any technique except the Yin-Yang Fusion technique, which means the Yin-Yang Fusion Art must be practised to absorb my Yang Qi. When there aren't many changes, like with Feng Luo Chen, my slave seal is required to activate my Yang Qi." He concluded.

"Come closer," Lestes said, motioning for Ning Waner to approach him.

Ning Waner got closer to him, and Lestes extended his hand, gently pointing his finger at her glabella. A subtle divine sense flowed into her body, as soft and calm as still water. His soul melded with hers, entering the depths of her consciousness.

Inside her soul, darkness enveloped everything, with only a faint light casting shadows in the void. The surroundings were indistinct. Lestes chose a direction and began to walk. Soon, he encountered a mist. It seemed to encircle something, sparking his curiosity. He extends his gentle divine sense

"This feeling... it's so familiar," Lestes thought, sensing a strange while sensing the mist, though he couldn't remember where he had encountered it before. His soul was immortal, immune to soul poison, and he felt no threat from it. Assured of his safety, he decided to venture further into the mist.
