"Come home to Michigan with us."
Her father repeated, looking straight at her.
Vanessa however, had a smile on her face as she scanned their small group.
"This is a joke, right?"
When everyone's serious face remained, she shook her head and stood up.
"I can't go back to Michigan."
"Nessa-"
"My whole life's here, mom." She politely interrupted her mother.
"My hospital, my friends, my business partners. My whole life is here. I can't just up and leave everything behind."
"We understand that Nessa, but you here isn't safe for you." Rosa reasoned.
"Isn't safe? No ma, you guys are just being paranoid. This is part of the reasons why I kept Ethan's affair on the low down."
"Well you didn't really do a great job at that considering it's all over the internet." Nelson muttered, earning a glare from Vanessa.
"I'm perfectly fine here, mom." She turned her attention back to her parents.
