As Su Ming opened the door, expecting to catch me in the act and ruin my reputation, she was met with a shocking sight. I was sitting there, holding a bottle, and the old man was kneeling before me, his face covered in blood from the beating I had just given him. Su Ming and Hanshin froze, both staring at the scene in disbelief.
Su Ming, with a look of disappointment, said, "Sister, how can you do this? He's our key client! How could you beat him like that? How are we supposed to sign a project with him now?" She accused me, her voice sharp with frustration.
I shot her a cold look and replied, "Oh, so you want me to just stand by and let him ruin my reputation? All for a contract?" I paused, turning my attention to Han Sheng, adding, "And Han Sheng, I wanted to show you something interesting."
I turned to the old man, signalling with my eyes, urging him to repeat whatever he had told me before to Han Sheng.
The old man's words hung in the air as he pointed at Su Ming, his voice trembling. "She asked me to ruin her reputation. She said someone would come here to sign the contract and that I needed to destroy her name. She also gave me money to do it," he accused, causing the tension in the room to spike.
Su Ming, realizing the gravity of the situation, immediately switched into defensive mode. She stammered, "No, Han Sheng brother, no! He's lying. It's obviously my sister. She doesn't like me! She even made this old man say all this. You should believe me, please!" Her voice shook with panic as she tried to twist the narrative.
Han Sheng turned to me, his expression firm but conflicted. "Su Yan, I think you've misunderstood your sister. She's a good person. She would never do something like that," he said, trying to calm the situation. His faith in her seemed unwavering.
I knew this would happens, so I pulled out my phone and played the video — the one where she was bribing the old man, the truth right there for everyone to see.
When Han Shang saw the video, his face contorted with disbelief. He looked at Su Ming, his expression filled with shock and disgust. But to my shock, Su Ming didn't falter. She started pleading, "No, Han Sheng brother, it's synthetic, it's fake! Don't believe her!" Her voice trembled, trying to cover up her guilt with more lies.
Part of me felt a twisted satisfaction watching her wriggle, but what happened next left me speechless. Han Sheng, instead of confronting her, took my phone, deleted the video, and handed it back to me. "I know she has done bad things to you, but she's just a small girl. She doesn't know any better. Nothing happened to you, right? Just forgive her," he said, as if it was all just a misunderstanding.
I stood there, frozen, the anger bubbling inside me. How could he be so blind? How could he excuse her so easily? My mind raced, my nerves on edge. I couldn't speak, couldn't even process what had just happened. It felt like the ground had shifted beneath me, and for a moment, I didn't know what to say.
I couldn't hold back anymore. I laughed bitterly as I turned to leave, walking out with every bit of anger and frustration that had been building inside me. I was done. But of course, Han Sheng followed me, grabbing my hand and pleading with me to stop.
"Su Yan, wait," he said, his voice shaky. "I know it's just... she's just a small girl. Believe me, she won't harm you. She's just playing around. Please, just forgive her."
I jerked my hand away, my anger flaring. "Are you blind, Han Sheng? You can see how she's been trying to crush me, yet you stand there defending her? You're disgusting," I spat, unable to hold back the hurt that had been festering for so long.
He didn't back off, though. Instead, his face softened, and he tried to explain, his voice pleading. "She's my lifesaver. She's like a sister to me. You misunderstood everything. I know you love me. Just come with me, and I'll explain everything."
I froze at his words. "Love you?" I scoffed, the bitterness creeping into my voice. "Yes, I've loved you. For three years, I've loved you, Han Sheng. I've done everything for you, given everything I had, but you never once looked at me. You treated me like garbage, like an obligation. What do you think I am to you?"
The words cut deep, but it was the truth. I could feel the anger sparkling up inside me, a mix of betrayal and frustration. "You just want to toy with me, don't you? One moment you want me, the next you don't, and I'm just supposed to sit here and take it? Do you think I'm some kind of doll or something, just waiting for your attention when it suits you?" My voice trembled with a mix of pain and rage.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, then added, "Tomorrow at 8 a.m., meet me at the civil affairs bureau. I want a divorce. If you don't show up, I'll just meet you at the court. I'm done waiting, Han Sheng. I'm done being threaded along", saying that I Strode back, without even glancing at him.
Su Ming's face twisted with a malicious grin, as if she found some kind of satisfaction in the chaos we were creating. Then, as if it were the most casual thing in the world, she pulled out her phone and said, "Tomorrow, make sure to kill her. I just want her to die."
