The next day, I woke up feeling like my head was about to explode. Every pulse felt like a mini earthquake rattling my skull. I groaned, dragging myself out of bed and stumbling toward Wu Ma.
"Wu Ma, please make me some soup," I begged, my voice hoarse and pitiful.
She shook her head, but within minutes, a warm bowl of soup was in front of me. "This will help with your hangover," she said with a knowing smirk, sliding the bowl over.
I sipped it gratefully, the warmth soothing both my head and my soul. Just as I started to feel human again, Han Sheng appeared out of nowhere, leaning casually against the doorway.
"Looks like someone had a nice treat last night," he said, his tone teasing. "A chicken treat, perhaps?"
I didn't even spare him a glance. I just finished the soup in silence, stood up, and walked back to my room to get ready.
At the office, as usual, Han Sheng turned me into his personal errand runner. It was non-stop. "Bring me this," "Get me that,"—I couldn't even do my own work, let alone catch a breath. At one point, I couldn't even make it to the restroom without hearing him call my name again.
Then Han Sheng asked for food. Unwillingly, I went and brought him his order. But when I entered his room, I froze in my tracks. Sitting on his lap was Su Ming, her hands delicately sliding across his face.
For a second, I didn't even know how to process what I was seeing. Han Sheng's eyes shot to me, wide with alarm. Su Ming, however, turned her head toward me with a sly smirk, as if she'd been expecting this moment all along.
"Oh… wrong timing," I stammered, awkwardly stepping back. "You guys… uh… carry on, carry on." I waved my hand in a flustered motion, turning away.
As I turned to leave, my body shook uncontrollably. Before I could escape entirely, Han Sheng suddenly pushed Su Ming off and called after me.
"It's not what it looks like!" he said, his voice panicked.
But I didn't wait to hear more. I bolted out of the room, expressing an exaggerated freezing motion as if I could shake the image out of my mind.
Shortly after I stepped out, Su Ming followed, calling me. "Han Sheng brother wants to see you," she said, her tone sharp and clearly irritated, as if blaming me for ruining her good deeds. "He asked you to bring his meal inside," she added, her face practically screaming annoyance.
I sighed and made my way back inside. Han Sheng was already seated at his desk when I walked in. I placed the food on the table and turned to leave, but his voice stopped me.
"It's not what you think," he said, his tone unusually soft.
I didn't even glance back. "Mr. Han, you don't have to explain it to me. I don't care," I replied firmly before he could say more.
I walked out without a second thought, but behind me, Han Sheng sat still, staring at the door. "She doesn't care? … doesn't she love me?" he wondered silently, his expression darkening.
As I returned from Han Sheng's office, Su Ming approached me with a file, asking me to get it signed by tonight. I frowned and said, "Isn't this your work? Why are you giving it to me? Do it yourself."
She immediately started acting all helpless, "Sister, I'm new here, I don't know much. Please help me, you're the senior, right?" she pleaded, playing the part.
Of course, everyone around us started nodding, agreeing that I should help.
One of my friends even stood up and said, "I'll help you with it." But I didn't want to involve her, so I sighed and said, "No, I'll just sign it myself." After that, I headed to the restaurant where we had the appointment for the signing.
After I left, Su Ming's expression turned into a scheming smile. She said, "Let's see how Han Sheng brother wants you after this!". She said it with a tone full of satisfaction, clearly believing her plan was working.
When I walked into the restaurant, I saw an old, bald man sitting there, waiting for me. His expression completely shifted, like he was some kind of pervert, and when I handed him the file, he started rubbing my hands, clearly trying to take advantage of me.
I immediately pushed him away, but he wouldn't back off. He just kept saying, " Baby! Come here!" His words were making me feel uncomfortable, and I knew I had to get out of there fast.
While all of this was happening, Su Ming went to Han Sheng, stammering as she said, "Sister, she... she betrayed you. She's with an old man now." Han Sheng's face twisted with anger, and he stormed towards the restaurant with Su Ming.
