Chapter 17 - afternoon

The next day, when Xu Chunian got up, Zhuzhu and Jiang Huaixu were already having breakfast.

She yawned and sat on the dining chair. "Good morning."

As usual, there was silence in response.

Zhuzhu peeled off the last piece of the eggshell. Her little hands were still too small to hold an egg properly. She put the egg on the plate in front of Xu Chunian.

Xu Chunian was stunned for a moment. "Thank you, Zhuzhu."

After having breakfast quietly, Zhuzhu went back to her small bedroom and sat on the carpet reading a book.

Jiang Huaixu went back to the study after eating. In novels, CEOs can go to work whenever they like, but how come it's a 996 work schedule for Jiang Huaixu? Xu Chunian grumbled to herself.

"Knock, knock, knock."

Xu Chunian was carrying some fruit. She knocked twice on Zhuzhu's bedroom door. After pushing it open, Zhuzhu put the fairy tale book on her lap. That little pig was lying in the middle of the book as usual.

Xu Chunian sat beside Zhuzhu and picked up a blueberry to feed her. "Zhuzhu, you've been reading all morning. Shall I take you for a walk in the backyard?"

Zhuzhu wasn't as scared of her as before, but she still looked a bit timid when she saw her. She wanted to get close but was also afraid.

"Is it okay?" Xu Chunian asked patiently.

Zhuzhu opened her mouth to bite the blueberry and nodded slightly. She put the book on her lap away by herself and placed it on the small shelf.

Xu Chunian's heart softened. She held Zhuzhu's wrist and went downstairs. In the morning of early summer, the sunlight had already filled the backyard garden. The unknown small trees in the yard were rustling in the wind. There were also the light and shadow on the ground, constantly flickering as the sunlight shone on the leaves.

"Zhuzhu, do you know what those flowers are?" Xu Chunian pointed to the colorful flowers in the small garden.

"That's the peony flower." Xu Chunian said, "I like peonies the most."

All kinds of peonies almost occupied most of the garden.

"And this one, this is the hydrangea. Doesn't it look like a ball?"

Zhuzhu nodded and pointed to the small white flowers in front, holding her head up.

"This is jasmine, baby." Xu Chunian bent down to pick a small flower and gave it to her. "Smell it. Isn't it fragrant?"

Zhuzhu was holding the little pig doll in her hand. Xu Chunian reached out to her. "Can I hold this for you? Here's the flower for you."

Zhuzhu hesitated while holding the pig, then reached out and handed it to her.

Xu Chunian gave her the small flower. Zhuzhu took it and smelled it under her nose.

"Does it smell good?" Xu Chunian held her wrist.

Zhuzhu let her hold her as she liked. There was a white swing in the courtyard. The vines full of flowers climbed onto the white pillars around it.

Xu Chunian lifted Zhuzhu onto the swing, put her little pig doll beside her, and then walked behind to push it gently. Zhuzhu's eyes curved into a smile.

The swinging swing, facing the wind, blew Zhuzhu's soft and fine hair to the back, revealing her small and delicate facial features.

The willow trees beside were also swaying. Xu Chunian broke off a willow branch and made it into a wreath, which she put on Zhuzhu's head. "What a beautiful baby." Xu Chunian held her little face, her maternal love overflowing. Zhuzhu's big eyes were like black grapes, with long and thick eyelashes. She really looked like a little princess from a fairy tale.

Just as she was about to get up to push the swing again, Zhuzhu grabbed her hand. Xu Chunian looked down at her. Zhuzhu reached out her little hand and patted the place beside her.

"Do you want me to sit with you?"

Zhuzhu nodded, put the small flower in her hand on her lap, and moved the piggy doll beside her to make room for her.

Xu Chunian sat beside her, reached out and held her in her arms. "Are you ready? We're going to take off!"

With that, she pushed off the ground with her toes and the swing swung out.

Suddenly thrown into the fragrant and soft embrace, Zhuzhu was stunned for a moment. Then, feeling the swing moving vigorously, she curved up the corners of mouth.

Upstairs, in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, the tall figure of the man stood by the window. His gaze fell on the white swing in the courtyard, and there were emotions in his deep eyes that were hard to understand.
