Chapter 11 - Chapter 11:Hardness of motherhood

Damon got out of the car after the valet opened the door for him after the vehicle came to a stop in front of the firm. After hurriedly passing the key to the valet so he could park the car, the assistant followed Damon inside.

When they saw Damon, the staff member said, "Good morning, Mr. Gold." Damon gave them a chilly nod before entering. Up to the meeting room he rode his own helevator. When the company's management and shareholders saw his icy visage, they held their breath. "Good morning, Mr. Gold." They got up and hurried to greet him.

The conference lasted six hours after Damon signaled everyone to sit down, during which time they devised a solution to their problem. Damon signaled the end of the discussion because the solution had already been explored. Returning to his office, he began working on the document that had accumulated on his desk.

Damon began thinking about Lovie and pondered what she was doing right now. Damon couldn't help but smile as he remembered her adorable face this morning before he departed. A good-looking man entered Damon's office without knocking.

The man gazed at Damon's face as though he had seen a ghost in the middle of the day. "Did I just catch you smiling?" asked Nick Skyline, startled. (Damon's closest companion).

Damon's face changed back to its icy expression, he instantly stopped grinning and asked Nick why he was at his company. Nick appeared offended, and asked Damon if he had to have a reason for visiting him.

"I'm busy; I did not have the time to play around with you; I need to go home quickly today," Nick replied to Damon. "Don't tell me you're hiding a woman at home; have you fallen in love already?" Nick asked Damon, giving him an odd look. "I will invite you to our wedding in two months time, though you won't know how great it is to fall in love since you're still playing around at your age, going from one club to another, and with your changing of girlfriend every three months attitude.". Lovie would have questioned Damon when she had decided to marry him and would have snarled at him if she had been present.

"What will you do about your fiancee? Since you're getting married to another person, your grandfather has been parading that woman about to his friends," Nick asked Damon. In response to Nick, Damon said, "He can marry her himself." "Your grandfather will be so heartbroken. If you heard what you said right now, he has arranged for that woman to be your fiancee since you were a child. I also do not understand your grandfather's obsession with the military. Since you have already disappointed him by continuing your father's company, your grandfather decided to look for a woman from the military background to be your wife," said Nick.

Damon's grandfather was unhappy that both Damon and his father chose to pursue business. Therefore, his grandfather arranged for Damon to marry a woman with military experience so that it would be simpler to convert the child to a military career after the marriage. Damon's parents don't stay in the country for very long because of his grandfather's persistent pestering, and they spent eight months of a year around the world.

Additionally, Damon is unsure of how to handle his grandfather's intransigence so he has left him to show off the woman because he is pretty elderly. Damon didn't have any affections for any women at that period, and he believed that it didn't matter who he married. He he is not sure of how to bring up the subject of ending the engagement with his grandfather now that he has fallen in love.

Since Damon's grandfather chose the woman and Damon doesn't care who he marries, Damon's parents choose to leave them alone even though they dislike the woman and believe she is too false. Now that he was second-guessing his choice, Damon called his parents to inform them that he had fallen in love with someone else and wanted to marry her. His grandfather is the lone black sheep in the family, so he knew his parents would adore Lovie because they share his excellent taste.

Lovie prepared a simple meal for herself after Damon left earlier that morning. After getting dressed, she left the house. Her appointment was with a group of middle-aged women in a separate neighborhood. In order to learn more about the challenges they had faced as mothers, she intended to interview them. She intends to write a new book called "The Hardness of Motherhood." Lovie intended to use the book as a springboard for her profession, thus she saw it as a chance to further her career.

She already has a meeting that she is running late for, and she intends to interview both married and single mothers.

When Lovie arrived home after interviewing those women, it was almost evening, so she had a bath and collapsed on her bed, fatigued. As soon as her head touched her pillow, she fell asleep.

It was the sound of her doorbell ringing that woke Lovie. Lovie guessed correctly who had knocked on her door, and seeing him through her peephole confirmed her suspicions. When Lovie opened the door, a fragile package was thrust in front of her before she could ask Damon anything.

Lovie asked Damon, "What's this?" Damon stated, "Our dinner." He also took the opportunity to push Lovie away, take off his shoes, and put them on Lovie's shoe rack. Lovie stared at Damon, unable to speak, and wondered if she had allowed him in without telling him because she didn't understand how he could just take over her home.

After setting the food on her dining table, Lovie turned to face Damon, who was settling into her couch, and asked, "Why did you run to my place to eat, and why aren't you eating at your place?"

"I'm not sure if you've eaten yet, and I bought that for you since I've also not eaten anything I decided to eat with you.". Damon answered. Throughout her life, eating has always been a luxury, so Lovie was really affected when Damon bought her food for the first time. In order to sustain herself, she began writing novels.
