Chapter 12 - chapter 12: tutoring Lovie

Lovie called Damon to the dining table to eat after going into the kitchen to fetch dishes and plating the meal he had purchased. Lovie began gorging herself because she hadn't eaten since breakfast and was quite hungry.

Damon thought Lovie was still cute despite the fact that she wasn't eating like a woman. Seeing how Lovie was eating made Damon feel revitalized because he had already become weary of ladies who pick at their food while attempting to eat elegantly.

Damon chose to mock Lovie by stating, "No one will take your food from you, so you can eat slowly. The food is not running away." Lovie frozen, swallowed her food, and attempted to eat like a lady by sitting up. Damon erupted in laughter as he noticed her attempting to adjust her seated position. "You should laugh more; you look more handsome like that," Lovie said as she fixed Damon with an adoring stare, finding his laugh captivating and unable to contain her desire to comment.

"Stop looking at me with that gaze; it's making me have unhealthy thoughts, and I did not want to touch you without your permission anymore, so don't make it hard for me," Damon seductively stated to Lovie. "What kind of gaze am I looking at him with, and what does he mean by he does not want to touch me without my permission? He has been kissing me without my permission, and he still said he does not want to touch me without my permission. What is he going to do then after having my permission?" Unwilling to dispute with him, Lovie carried the plates into the kitchen to wash them while silently thinking and rolling her eyes.

After following her into the kitchen, Damon snatched the plate from Lovie and urged her to go do something else. Lovie attempted to eject Damon by arguing that since he had purchased the food, she should be the one to wash the dish. With unwavering resolve, Damon informed Lovie that he would never allow his wife to suffer by doing the dishes.

Later, when Lovie saw Damon was adamant about washing the dishes, she gave up and left the kitchen, but not before telling him, "Please stop calling me your wife; we aren't married yet." "I did not know you're already making plans to marry me since you said we are not married yet," Damon replied, beaming at Lovie. Lovie jumped out of the kitchen and pondered why she had made such a mistake.

When Lovie noticed her high school textbooks on her bookshelf on her way to the sitting room, she realized she had forgotten about the tutor she wanted to hire. Since she is currently unable to handle the math, art, and science books, she chose to start with the English textbook exercise. She managed to respond to some of the questions in the book by concentrating on it. She lost sight of the fact that there was another person at home since she was so focused on her task.

"I assumed you had already completed high school. Why are you still reading the curriculum and seeming to be having trouble with it?" A voice abruptly came from behind Lovie. Lovie shrieked and leaped out of the chair before realizing that Damon was with her in the house. Her screams also alarmed Damon, who asked her "what happened" right away. With a flush of shame, Lovie remarked, "I forgot I was not the only one at home and got scared by your voice."

Damon nearly rolled his eyes, wondering how Lovie could have forgotten that a man was in her house. He also questioned whether Lovie was really this reckless in her daily life.

Damon chose not to interrogate Lovie about how she could forget that a large man like him was in her home, instead choosing to ask her again, "Why are you reading the high school curriculum?"

"Ehm," Lovie continued, "I did not concentrate in school before, so I barely made it out of high school, because I did not have any plan on going to the university before. I did not think anything of it, but now I've decided that I want to attend the university, but I can't enter with my former result that barely reached the mark, so I decided to retake the test." Lovie, embarrassed by herself, looked down and said to Damon.

Damon looked at the uncomfortable woman who was turning her head away from him, and he thought she looked cute despite her embarrassment. Damon realized that he would always find everything Lovie did adorable. With interest in his eyes, Damon questioned Lovie, "You can hardly put those words together. Why didn't you hire a tutor?" "I was planning on hiring one since yesterday, but I kept on forgetting about it," Lovie replied, lifting her head to face Damon.

As he looked at Lovie, unable to speak, Damon pondered what was constantly on her mind and how she could possibly forget that she wanted to employ a tutor.

Damon said Lovie, "You don't need to hire a tutor any more; I'll tutor you." Looking at Damon, Lovie wondered if he was capable of tutoring her .

When Damon noticed that Lovie was looking at him doubtfully, he said, "What kind of look are you giving me? Let me tell you, I finished my high school education at 13 years old, graduated from the university at 18 years old, and inherited my father's company at 19 years old. I've always carried the first position in my class, so I'm more than enough to tutor you."

Lovie noticed that Damon didn't sound like he was lying when she looked up to look at his face. Since Damon had already graduated from college at the same age as her and she was still having difficulty with the high school curriculum, Lovie marveled at the unfairness of the world.

"Please help me, teacher," she replied, giving Damon a nice glance. She was aware that learning from a handsome prodigy like Damon would accelerate her learning. Since she was aware of her laziness, she requested Damon not to be too forgiving.

Since tutoring her would eliminate the need for Damon to come up with an explanation for going looking for her, he was delighted to do so. Lovie selected math as the subject she would like to focus on initially when Damon asked her. Since there is only one chair in front of Lovie's study table, they moved the books to the dining table to avoid crowding.

Damon opened the textbook and began teaching her the easiest of the subjects before moving on to the more difficult ones. He began by teaching her how to solve an equation, writing out a problem and then explaining the answers to Lovie.

Damon explained to Lovie that in order to solve the simple equation 2x-5=17, the negative sign (-) must cross over to the other number, which is seventeen, and during the cross over, the negative sign will change to a positive sign. Next, the other number that does not have an alphabet immediately after it, (5), must also cross over, and if the result is 22, they must add the two numbers together, divide 2x by 2, and then divide 22 by 2; the 2 will cancel the 2 in the 2x, and then divide 22 by 2 to arrive at the result of 11.

Damon then informed Lovie that x = 11 is their solution to the equation.

After Damon asked Lovie if she understood what he had just described, she nodded, indicating that she did. After tutoring her till midnight, Damon offered Lovie an exercise to complete the next day after realizing that the allotted time had passed. After their study session, Lovie complained about Damon asking her to answer questions.

Damon responded by asking how he could tell if she really understood if she didn't try to answer any questions. Lovie assured Damon that she would take the test the following day, and because he was exhausted, Damon returned to his flat to sleep after kissing Lovie good night.
