Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"Ah, welcome back." Lucifer said, nodding.

"I never left. You are talking to me, right?" Elias asked, now completely confused.

Lucifer stared for a moment, and then slapped himself in the forehead.

"Right, right. Sorry. I got ahead of myself. Okay my new friend, I have already told you much, but there is a lot of missing context, as well as more to the story. For starters, do you know how I became a demon?" Lucifer said, and Elias threw up his hands.

"Not a fucking clue, but I'm sure you're gonna tell me." Elias said, resigned to his fate.

"Indeed I am. You are sharp. I like that about you. Look, I had everything I had ever wanted in heaven with my creator. I was introduced to many things after my creation, such as art, music, and of course, my dear Lillith." Lucifer said, and Elias noted the pain in his eyes when he mentioned his wife.

"Then, one day, God as you would call him, made your kind, or at least, what you once were. That's when I got a taste for a new emotion I had never felt before. Jealousy. Why do these beings, these mere mortals with nothing special about them, get his special treatment and attention? It was infuriating. The first two especially, got his utmost attention. I cursed them for so long, and eventually, I tricked them into committing the ultimate sin, but in the end, the one who was tricked was me." Lucifer sald.

Elias assumed he was talking about the story of Adam and Eve. He had never believed any of this. Supernatural, paranormal, religious beliefs, it was all fake to him. But now...

"And so, following what I did, the Creator cast me down, and all those who stood beside me. But not before he "blessed" me with both a gift and a curse. My awareness of the world, of the inhabitants, and of my own decisions is greater than anyone else, besides the creator. I have to live fully aware that I doomed the entire world, and the universe, to the state that it's in now." Lucifer said, a sad look in his eyes.

"Isn't that God's fault, though? Why does he let this misery persist?" Elias asked, and truthfully, he really wanted to know.

So many terrible things happened every day. Unspeakable, atrocious acts that no benign maker would let happen. Rape, murder, slavery, hunger, so many different things could be solved if the being that could supposedly do everything if he even cared a little bit.

"Again, that's my fault. The creator, God, is a powerful being, but his power is not unlimited. He can create things with ease, but changing, or destroying, takes a heavy toll on him. Casting myself, along with the others, drained him of much of his power, and many angels believe he may never regain it. That is why he cannot help. He simply cannot afford to do so. And it's all my fault. I damned the whole world with my selfishness.

Lucifer was right about himself doing a lot of talking, but if Elias was being honest, he was feeling pretty bad for the dude. Well, demon dude. If Elias was being truthful with himself, he was still trying to cope with the situation. Satan, in fact, was just a chill and depressed dude. He felt that on a level he never really thought about before.

"I'm still confused as to why you are telling me all of this. We just met." Elias said, and Lucifer smiled.

"We are getting to that, but one of thing of note must be addressed." Lucifer replied.

The devil took a deep breath.

"My dear Lillith is not the same woman anymore. She was, for a time, but slowly, anger and resentment at God built up inside of her, and something inside her shifted, or changed... I'm not exactly sure. Whatever the case, it caused her power to break past the wall in her soul, and caused her power to skyrocket, surpassing even mine, but it was at a terrible cost." Lucifer said, and Elias's mouth hung open as Lucifer Morningstar, Satan himself, began to cry.

"She became cold, cruel, and power hungry. She has all but cast me aside in her pursuit for revenge against God, who she feels wronged her greatly. I keep trying to tell her that if anyone should be blamed, should be punished, it should be me, but she doesn't listen. This is why I cannot do anything, because I fear my own wife will kill me if I go against her. The only time she ever calls for me is when she needs a release of the carnal variety... but it's not the same. Fucking someone, and making love to someone, are very, very different." Lucifer said.

Well, now this was getting a little awkward. Still though, Elias couldn't help but feel a tug on his heart for the guy. He made a mistake that he simply cannot fix. Then, Lucifer looked at Elias with hope in his eyes.

"Then, there's you." Lucfier said, meetinf Elias's gaze.

"What do you mean?" Elias asked.

"You are the one I've been waiting for. I asked God for forgiveness so many times, but it all fell on deaf ears. Then, one day, in one of my darkest hours, God answered me. It was because instead of asking for forgiveness, I simply asked him to help my dear Lillith."

Elias was on the edge of his seat now, quite literally. He wished the guy would get to the point, but he couldn't deny that he was an engaging story teller.

''Seek the power of one who treads the line between mortal and the fallen. Only they have the power to save her now." Lucifer said, then scratched his chin,

"Or, something like that anyways. Because of my accute awareness, I understood what he meant. The perfect fusion, something that was tried many times before. You, my friend, are the first of your kind. You, are a Cambion. Half demon, half human. For so long, the demons have tried to make the myth a reality. However, humans always break and give in to the demonic energy, and humans and demons cannot breed, so it was left as just a myth. But now... there's you, you stubborn son of a bitch." Lucifer said with a grin.

Elias had heard of Cambions before. DnD came to mind, but so did one of my favorite book series of a man who became a Cambion in one of the books. Very fun series, as the dude's answer to everything was just smashing his problems with a giant hammer. Still, this was weird to Elias, especially given that so far, Lucifer had just spent what felt like well over an hour just info dumping on him.

"But, how can I help? And why should I? I don't even know the first thing about being a demon." Elias said.

He wasn't being cold on purpose. His time here so far had not been particularly pleasant. It made sense that the demonic energy twisted people's minds, but it still didn't take away the fact that he had been stuck here for what seemed like an eternity being tortured and stuffed with demonic energy. It didn't really make him want to help anyone, but even if he did, he didn't know how the fuck he was supposed to do any of that.

"To be honest, I don't fucking know either." Lucifer said, shrugging.

"You're the first of your kind, so your powers and abilities are unknown to me. I can help you understand how to manipulate your demonic energy to the best of my knowledge, but the things that you, and only you, can do, you'll have to discover on your own." Lucifer said.

Elias had to admit, basically becoming the student of Satan did sound pretty neat. Plus, it didn't sound like he was going to beg him, or try to convince him to help, which honestly made Elias's respect for the man grow.

"You have absorbed enough energy that you have surpassed a demon lord's power, and probably even my own. So, a Cambion Lord. Or King I guess, but the Lord sounds cooler." Lucifer said, and Elias had to agree.

"When you reach that stage of power, most of what you can do is based upon your will and intent. If you think you can do something, you probably can, and you need only believe in that part of yourself to make it happen." Lucifer said, and gave some demonstrations.

"Obviously, you can't just will world hunger to stop, or people to stop killing each other for no reason. When it comes to what you can do, however, that's where things get really fun."

Lucifer conjured a black and red ball of fire in his palm, and that act alone mesmerized Elias. There were powered supers back home that could control certain elements, like fire, water, ice, and whatnot, but this energy felt like something else entirely.

"You see, humanity was never meant to have access to these kinds of abilities. The Creator placed a barrier around your universe, that was made stop the bleed through of both heavenly and demonic energy. Well, when God cast us down, the barrier shattered, and slowly, and over a great period of time, the energy from both realms seeped into yours, creating the neutral energy that gives you humans your powers." Lucifer told him, as he created three more balls of fire and began to juggle them like a circus clown.

Elias's brain hurt, like, quite a bit. There was only so much information that you could tell a person before it began to become a jumbled mess in their heads. Elias wasn't stupid, and he listened to every word, but it was still a ridiculous amount of information all at once.

Elias's worldview had already been flipped upside down and spanked like an unruly child, but Lucifer just kept going and going. Super powers were a normal part of life, albiet, without Elias having had them, but now this? God? Demons? Heaven and hell? Elias needed a drink.

"Well, are you just gonna stare like a bozo or are you gonna try something?" Lucifer asked, snapping his fingers Elias's face. He did this while still juggling, mind you. Truly a great talent.

"Uh, fuck. Yeah." Elias said, shaking his head in an attempt to unclog his brain.

Elias held out his hand, palm up, and focused. What he wanted was a fireball to appear in his hand. He willed it to be, just as Lucifer said. He could feel that energy surging within him, eager to fulfill his request. There was no way it was that easy.

Turns out, it really was. A fireball the size of a semi-truck tire appeared in his palm. Lucifer whistled.

"Nice! Really nice, kid. That's a lot of power for a simple fireball, but I don't even feel like your energy levels have drained in the slightest. Huh, so this is what an overpowered MC is like, isn't it?" Lucifer said, nodding in satisfaction.

"What?" Elias asked, the fireball disappearing.

"Oh, nothing. I'm just talking to myself. Okay, now on to something else. You can also empower your body with your energy as well, much in the same way. Like this." Lucifer said.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and bent his legs at the knees. He put his arms ti either side of him, making tight fists with his hands. He opened his eyes and began to scream. Elias jerked back, not from the power or anything, but because he just wasn't expecting it.

Red and black energy swirled around Lucifer, creating a demonic aura that washed out from his body. He continued to scream as he clenched his fists harder, and then he gritted his teeth. His muscles pumped themselves up, become at least twice as dense as they had been previously. Then, he let out one last scream that carried enormous power behind it, and his power blinded Elias.

Once Elias could see again, he stared in amazement. Lucfier stood there, his aura fillimg the room as his power washed out of him. His hair now stuck straight up, and gained a pure red color as it swayed like a breeze was hitting it.

"You'll pay for what you've done." Lucifer said, his voice cold as ice.

"Wait, what?" Elias askes, his awe turning to confusion.

Lucifer stared at him with a placid expression, before he smirked.

"Sorry, I've always wanted to do something like this in front of someone. Cool, right?" Lucifer asked, his smile wide.

"Y-yeah. Super cool." Elias said, bewildered by Lucifer's oddness once again.

"Good." Lucifer said, nodding his head in satisfaction, "Good."
