Chapter 13 - Ch- 13: The terrifying void creature

The battlefield was a chaotic symphony of destruction, the air heavy with the scent of blood and ash. The void creature, an amorphous monstrosity born from Allen's dark will, loomed over the remnants of the Church's forces. Its shifting form crackled with raw energy, shadows rippling as if alive. High Cleric Amadeus gripped the hilt of Sun's Wrath, the divine sword blazing with an intensity that seemed to challenge the very darkness itself. The golden fire danced along the blade, a beacon of hope in the suffocating void.

The creature roared, a sound that shattered the air and sent shockwaves rippling through the land. The ground trembled under the force, splitting open in jagged, web-like cracks that snaked outward from the beast's massive form. Trees were uprooted and hurled into the sky like twigs caught in a storm. Soldiers staggered, some falling to their knees, their courage wavering in the face of such overwhelming power. Amadeus stood firm, the flames of Sun's Wrath shielding him from the onslaught. "Hold your ground!" he bellowed, his voice cutting through the chaos. "The Light guides us! The Light will not falter!"

The creature lunged, its massive claw tearing through the air with the speed of a falling star. Amadeus surged forward, meeting the attack head-on. The clash of divine steel against dark energy erupted in a blinding explosion, a shockwave that flattened everything within a hundred meters. The force hurled nearby soldiers into the air, their screams lost in the cacophony. Amadeus gritted his teeth, pushing against the beast's overwhelming strength. Sparks flew as his blade bit into its claw, golden fire searing through the void energy that made up its form. But the creature was relentless. It twisted, its tail whipping around with devastating speed. The ground shattered as the tail struck, sending boulders and debris flying like cannonballs. Amadeus leapt back, narrowly avoiding the attack, and retaliated with a powerful swing of his blade. A crescent of golden fire arced through the air, slicing into the creature's torso. It screamed, the sound reverberating through the battlefield like a sonic boom, shattering what remained of the surrounding forest.

Despite the devastating blow, the wound began to close, the void energy knitting itself together almost instantaneously. Amadeus cursed under his breath. "This thing… it's regenerating too fast." He glanced around, his heart sinking at the sight of his dwindling forces. Soldiers fought valiantly against the tendrils of void energy that lashed out from the creature, but they were being overwhelmed. Bodies littered the ground, their divine armor shattered, their weapons broken. The void seemed to feast on their despair, growing darker and more oppressive with every passing moment.

A voice broke through the chaos. "Cleric! We'll create an opening!" Captain Harven, the leader of the paladins, rallied his remaining men. Their shields glowed with divine light as they charged the creature, their battle cries echoing with desperate determination. "For the Light!" they shouted, their voices uniting in a defiant roar. Harven led the charge, his blade igniting with holy fire as he struck at the creature's legs. The others followed, hacking and slashing with all their might. The void beast faltered, its balance momentarily disrupted.

"Now, Cleric!" Harven shouted, his voice filled with urgency. Amadeus didn't hesitate. He gathered all his strength, the flames of Sun's Wrath blazing brighter than ever before. He charged, the ground beneath him melting into molten rock as the sheer power of his divine aura seared the earth. The creature turned, its massive maw opening to unleash a torrent of void energy. Amadeus raised Sun's Wrath, the blade absorbing the attack and redirecting it into a blinding column of light that pierced the heavens. The creature howled, its form writhing as the light burned through it.

But victory came at a cost. The void beast, in its death throes, lashed out with unrelenting fury. Its tail slammed into Harven and his men, their bodies flung like ragdolls across the battlefield. The captain's shield shattered as he took the full brunt of the attack, his lifeless body crumpling to the ground. Amadeus pressed on, tears streaming down his face as he drove Sun's Wrath into the creature's core. The divine fire erupted, consuming the beast in a fiery explosion that lit up the night like a second sun.

When the smoke cleared, Amadeus was on his knees, his armor scorched and battered, his breathing ragged. The battlefield was eerily silent, save for the crackling of flames. Around him lay the bodies of his comrades, their sacrifice etched into the blood-soaked earth. Sun's Wrath lay beside him, its once-radiant glow now dim and fading. The blade, like its wielder, had been pushed to its limits.

Amadeus stared at the remnants of the void creature, now reduced to ash. "We did it…" he whispered, though his voice was hollow. The cost of victory weighed heavily on him. Ninety-six percent of his forces were gone, and the divine artifact he wielded had lost its power. He clenched his fists, grief and rage swirling within him. "At what cost?" he muttered, his voice breaking.

In the Void, Allen observed the scene with a twisted smile. "Fascinating," he mused, his voice dripping with amusement. "They've actually managed to kill one of my creations. How entertaining." He leaned back, his eyes gleaming with malice. "Let them savor their victory. It will make their despair all the sweeter when the next challenge arrives."

Above the battlefield, the clouds parted, and a single ray of sunlight broke through, illuminating the devastated land. The surviving soldiers, battered and broken, looked up, their faces etched with a mix of relief and sorrow. For a moment, it felt like the Light had acknowledged their sacrifice. But Allen's laughter echoed in the Void, a chilling reminder that this was far from over. "Enjoy your little moment of hope," he said, his grin widening. "The real fun hasn't even begun."
