My wolf tore through the woods at incredible speeds, my warriors followed close behind me. We followed the stench of the warlocks blood through the dense trees. He wouldn't escape use.
An alarm was sounded late that night that an intruder had infiltrated our palace. The warlock had killed one of my guards on duty outside of the east wing. It seemed he broke in and stole something from the library, my guard caught him fleeing but lost his life against him.
My anger boiled deep at the thought, my wolf howled through the night, my warriors following suit.
The warlock was not so lucky. My guard had injured him before he fell, and now we were on the hunt.
'It's strange,' I thought to my wolf, Fang, 'He's running deeper into our woods, not out.'
Fang growled, 'lost rabbit does not know his ways about our woods.'
The trees whipping by took my attention back to the chase. The smell of blood grew strong and my wolf quickened its pace. There seemed to be a break in the tree line, and we lunged through it. As we landed, my wolf gave a deep bellowing growl, alerting my warriors to my location. I stalked foreword into the clearing, but something felt off. A sadness filled me, my wolf's anger seemed to disappear. I scared the clearing quickly. What was this feeling? All I saw was a tree standing in the middle of the clearing, confusing me.
Why was there a cherry tree this deep into the woods? Why did it smell so alluring?
As my wolf approached closer, still on high alert, I saw a figure dart back into the woods across the other side of the clearing. Adrenaline kicked back in, my wolf leaping past the tree, another deep growl left my throught. There he was!
As we landed on the other side of the tree my wold haunted, my heart racing faster than before.
'What is it?!' I yelled in my mind at him. My worries rushed past me, their wolf's bounding to the other side of the clearing without a second thought. 'Why did you stop?!' I yelled again. My betas wolf stopped besides me, his wolf almost as large as mine. It's golden fur shone in the moons light.
'What is it Cam?' My beta asked through my mind link.
I tried fighting with my wolf, to move forward, but he resisted. Turning back to the cherry tree, he slowly moved closer to it, sniffing the air.
There was another scent in the air, hidden by the floral smell of the cherry blossom and the dirty smell of the warlocks blood. I only bearly caught the scent when we made out a small figure crouched by the tree. As she lifted her head and our eyes met, my stomach dropped. The smell of her blood finally reached my beta when my wolf finally responded to me, 'MATE'
