During the beginning of times, the woods had been filled with magic. Creatures of all sorts roamed between borders yet to be marked, and evil crept through the grounds. The magic in the woods grew dark and deadly, almost consuming the lands far and wide. A long and agonizing fight had caused the extinction of many of the Woodlands creatures. The culprit of the darkness spreading was told to have been killed by the union of shifters, vampires, and the many other woodland creatures that no longer roam the forest.
After their victory, the leaders of the lands split their people into Five major kingdoms. The northern mountains were home to the Dragon shifters, their larg forms and warm bodies accustomed to the cold fridged temperatures.
The southern lands were claimed for the vampires. The large lands held much stone and few plants grew, for which the vampires made cities that filled with humans as they lived side by side.
The eastern lands held massive lakes. Naturally, the sighrens and merman chose these lands, connecting them to the ocen realm.
The western lands were given to the elven folk. Their skill and knowledge of plants they shared with the other humans that spaned across each territory.
Then left the middle land. The woods. The cite for which the battle against evil had raged. The woods streatched almost as far as the Dragon territory, touching the boarders of each of the Five kingdoms. A vast territory littered with dead magic that had been curupted by evil, and the magic that had fought so hard against it. In time, the woods hid the magic within its roots. A deep woods that had once been protected by the fay, was now under the protection of the Lycan King.
The Lycan took the woods for their vast reach and need of space. Their Alpha wolf's were very territorial. They spread their packs into seven areas throughout the woods. The Lycans themselves resting their territory close to the base of the Dragons mountains. The same lands that the final battle was told to have been won.
The Five kingdoms would meet in Lycan territory once a year on the anniversary of their victory of banishing the evil from their lands. In the beginning, it was a massive celebration. The kingdoms stayed unified, and it became a time of great joy. Leaders of the kingdoms would find their mates and would make bonds strengthening their territory.
As the time passed, however, the war that was once fought in unison became an urban legend. Story's of the fay, of the magical creatures that had once fought to protect the lands, fell into myth. The Five kingdoms that had once stood together found bitterness with eachother, some disputes over territory separated the kingdoms once again. Disputes over the differences of their people caused unrest. Battles within territory, against their own people, had begun anew.
Though through the unrest, the kingdoms that had once been united seemed to be long in the past.
Within the woods, the magic felt the change in the world. The kingdoms should have felt it too, but their knowledge of the old magic had fadded, some elders rarely discuss the old ways for fear of scrutiny. But the magic felt the change.
Within the middle kingdom the unrest grew, an old Alpha caused an uprising against the Lycan King, leading to his death. His mate lost her life due to heart break, leaving his two sons to take back the kingdom. During the fight for power, the brothers regained control of their lands. The eldest was crowned Lycan King, while the youngest followed through the seven separate territorys insuring the uprising was fully whipped out.
It took seven years to secure the lands. Seven years the young prince was away from his kingdom, his brother. Seven years the Five Kingdoms had not met in celebration. Seven years there was blood shed in the wolf's woods.
The prince had seen the woods grow darker, as a blight took their lands. They had awaken an old magic. The King heard the stories of the Five kingdoms facing similar issues and summoned the lords of the lands to their halls once again. Both he and his brother knew they needed the blessings of the Five kingdoms to rule, and so the king called his brother home. For the Loards to support his claim to the thrown, he needed his peoples support, and his brothers submission.
