Chapter 1 - The proposal

Here's Chapter 1 of "The Union":

Chapter 1: The Proposal

Amelia hands trembled as she held the steaming cup of tea. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Perez seated across from her in their cozy living room, exchanged a nervous glance.

"Amelia, pueri" her mother began, using the affectionate latin term for "child," "we've found a suitable match for you."

Amelia's heart sank. She had known this day would come, but she wasn't prepared.

she knew her father to well. because he puts business before family, she always craved for a father's love

"Who is he?" she asked, trying to sound as calm as possible

"Rafael Gomez," her father announced, a smile spreading across his face. "He is from the reputable Gomez family. He's a successful businessman, and his family has a great reputation."

Amelia's mind raced. Gomez? She knew of them, of course. Who didn't in know them in Mexico's business circles?

they ere known for their remarkable empire, who wouldn't want to mingle with the.

"What's he like?" she asked, stalling.

"Rafael is kind, responsible, and well-educated young man," her mother chimed in happily. "He's looking for a partner who shares family values and will support his family's legacy."

Amelia felt a knot form in her stomach. Family values? Legacy? This sounded more like a business merger than a marriage.

I just knew my father was using me as a business proposal, he'll never change

"When do I meet him?" she asked, resigned.

"This weekend," her father replied. "We've arranged a meeting at the Gomez's residence. Be ready by 11 am."

Amelia nodded, her mind reeling. This was happening. Her life was about to change forever.

Scene Break

As Amelia retreated to her room, her phone buzzed with a text from her best friend, Damian:

"Hey, what's up? You seem distracted."

Amelia hesitated, unsure how to share the news.

"Just family stuff," she typed, hiding her true feelings
