Chapter 3: The Darkness Rises
Animus' POV
My Carnifex spread throughout Castrum, seeking the human witness. Johanna.
Night descended, casting shadows. Perfect hunting conditions.
I summoned the ancient power within me, channeling the darkness.
"Ossivor, bring me the weather's fury," I commanded.
Ossivor's eyes gleamed. "The skies will obey, Animus."
Thunder boomed, and darkness deepened. My Carnifex revelled in the shadows.
"The city will soon be ours," I whispered.
With every heartbeat, my power grew.
The humans cowered, sensing the darkness.
Each one of them retreating to their place of abode and shutting their doors behind them
But Johanna... Johanna remained hidden.
For now.
Just then Ossivor rushed in "Animus, we almost got the girl but she slipped from our fingers, We need more time to bring her to you and the daylight isn't helping"
I rushed towards Ossivor and choked her, my eyes gleaming with burning rage
"How did that happen?". I asked
"A mere human escaped from powerful creatures such as yourself?"
Ossivor assured me they would get her and I let it slide just this once. I won't be so forgiving next time.
