"S~so many rations!"
"Tonight! We eat like kings!"
The sounds of the depths were slightly muffled by the greenhouse, Replaced by the loud voices of Milo and Axon who were wide eyed as they watched Angel empty his pockets. The two quickly grabbed the small packets of rations and started to count them with visible glee written on their face, Angel watched them with a slight smile as he grabbed one of the black packets.
"These can last for a week or two so only eat one" He walked to the side not caring about the gloom that filled their faces at his words.
"Here"
Angel came to a worn down matress where the blue haired Sable was sitting, Her arms still wrapped around her legs. He held out the ration toward her waiting a few seconds until she reached up, Gently taking it from his grasp.
"….Thank you" Sable's voice was as low as it always was but to Angel it was clear as day.
"Where's Kade?" He let out a small sigh of exhaustion while taking a seat on the spring filled mattress.
"…." Angel only received a slight shrug of the shoulder from Sable who tore open the black packet.
"Where" The blue haired girl gestured toward her hands while gazing at Angel from the side of her eye.
"I took them from one of the merchants" Angel looked away avoiding the piercing azure eyes that barley showed any emotion.
'She's mad' Yet Angel was the one person in the world who could easily see through the slate of indifference.
"Don't worry" He smiled letting his back hit the barley comfortable mattress.
"It was a grab and go with no problems" Angel gazed at the haze covered sky trying not to look over.
"I swear I was careful" He finally couldn't take it anymore and put on the best pouting face he could make.
"…." Sable's eyes narrowed before she put her lips on the edge of the ration package taking a bite of the rubber like contents.
Angel smiled watching her nibbling on it eventually letting his gaze wonder back to the sky.
"Do you think stars are actually real?" He asked seeing nothing but pollution filled fog.
Angel knew that supposedly in the past there were things called stars that painted the skyline during night time. He was also aware of the moon and it's supernatural power to turn humans into creatures called wearwolfs. Or at least that's what the book he scavenged in the past said, Although he was sure that was just a children's tale.
"…." Sable didn't speak but Angel saw her head tilt upward matching his line of sight.
"Stars are supposed to be beautiful aren't they?" Angel turned over resting his head on his hand while his dirty white hair fell into his face.
"I'm sure they can't compare to you though" He spoke with a tone of pure seriousness looking at Sable.
"….Shut up"
The blue haired girl's expression didn't even budge an inch leaving Angel to helplessly sigh. The slight pink tinting on Sable's cheeks didn't go unnoticed by him though, He felt a sense of warmth that was quickly ruined when he saw Axon and Milo wrestling over a laser that Angel had swiped from the merchants stall.
"Idiots" He muttered pulling his hand back and letting his head fall back into the mattress once more.
"…." His gaze once again looked toward the sky while tails of the past raced around in his head.
Angel could feel Sable's presence beside him. Her silence was never heavy, She was one of the few people who didn't add to the noise in his life. Even now, as they stared up at the pollution clouded sky, he could feel the unspoken words between them.
"Eat" Although he was caught off guard when Sable's soft voice rang out.
Angel glanced over to find her blue eyes staring at him, He noticed a hint of sternness in them that made him smile in response.
"I already ate one on the way here" He answered but despite his words Sable continued to stare at him.
"…Liar" She muttered with her lips slowly turning downward in a rare frown.
"I'm fine" Angel let out a short breath avoiding Sable's gaze once more but she didn't seem to let up.
"Eat" Sable reached out pushing the ration in her hand toward his face with her voice being much firmer.
"Ha.." Angel let out a sigh and could only take a small bite underneath the intense azure eyes.
"…." Sable face's never changed for even a second but Angel could tell she was pleased.
He chewed tasting the disgusting almost matalic like food, If you could even call it that. Angel felt displeasure as it traveled down his throat and he instantly felt like his skin had grown itchy, It wasn't due to the ration but a more mental nature that he tried and failed to ignore.
"What are you two idiots fighting over" Thankfully his mind was distracted when a deep voice sounded out.
Angel gazed over seeing a boy with brown hair to match his hazel eyes, He could be considered buff or at least as muscular as street rats like them could get. The boy also had a scar starting from his nose leading all the way down his jawline like a unending incision.
"Who are you calling an idiot" Axon quickly stood up only to be pushed down by Kade like a rag doll.
"You" The brown haired boy spoke as if his words were a fact while stepping over him.
"You got rations?" Kade made his way in front of Angel who nodded simply.
"Good" The larger boy plopped down on the ground while looking over his shoulder with a sigh.
"I thought the two idiots were going to starve to death" Angel smiled but froze when he saw Sable staring at him from the side.
"Where were you?" He changed the subject quickly while feeling as if he was on the edge of danger.
"I found a job" Kade's crossed his arms with his words causing Angel's face to become serious.
"What type?" He didn't hesitate to sit up with his mind already calmed down.
"Burglary" Kade spoke while staring at Angel waiting for his response.
"…." Angel was quite for a few seconds letting his eyes wonder to Sable who's indifferent expression hadn't changed.
"What's the score?" He looked back toward Kade who had always turned his gaze toward Sable for a split second.
"Art, Jewelry, Coins" The musclar boy shrugged as if any of the three would do.
"I mean the guy's loaded" Angel clicked his tongue at Kade's words before looking back up at the sky.
"…." He didn't speak feeling the gazes of not only Kade but also Sable.
"Alright let's do it" Angel eventually let out a deep breath not taking his eyes off the pollution filled sky.
