I followed Nel through the academy corridors while keeping a safe distance. From my place behind him, I watched him walk casually with his usual casual air. His hands shoved into the pockets of his coat. He seemed impervious to the hushed whispers and admiring glances of the students we passed, particularly the female ones.
"Good afternoon, Senior Riegnel," one girl greeted with an overly sugary and sweet tone as her eyes sparkled at him.
Nel didn't even look her way. His gaze stayed ahead, his steps unfaltering, as though such greetings were nothing more than background noise to him.
I rolled my eyes, though I had to admit… the attention he got wasn't surprising. It was like every girl here was entranced by him. So I kept a careful distance behind him, aware of the sharp glares directed my way by some of the girls in the hall.
