It was another bright summer day on Earth. The birds were chirping, and the sun was filtering through the windows of the apartment. Books were laying unorganized and a messy haired boy is stretching his arms after a long night.
"Ugh, what time is it?"
As the boy gets up, he glances at the clock on the wall, still half asleep. Then suddenly all his surprise came rushing out at once.
"Crap! I'm late!"
As the boy rushes to the bathroom with clothes in his hands, he hears his phone buzz. A call from a person called 'Dave'.
"Hello?" The boy asked still in a hurry.
"Yo, where the hell are you!?" Dave's voice rang from the phone.
"I know, I know! I'm on my way!" - Beep! He cuts the call.
After a swift ten minutes the once messy boy came out of the bathroom. His hair now styled and his clothes comfortable and casual, he looked more civilized. He glanced at his wrist watch again before grabbing his notebooks and a bag.
'Well, here goes another day, I'm already late anyway, it's about twenty five minutes till I arrive at the university…', he maked a mental note as he boarded the train to the downtown district.
After a ten minute commute, he exited the train station. He passed various cafe's and internet cafe's, his thoughts still drifting all over the place, before he heard someone calling him.
"Psst! Hey! Yeah you."
The boy was bewildered to see an old man in weird clothes standing next to him. The old man had bangs that fell over his jade green eyes, his hair was a messy blend of black and grey, and his beard seemed to be trimmed short.
"Are you interested in the stars?"
'Is this old man one of those… nevermind' the boy stopped his train of thought.
"Not really sir, I'm more of a-"
"Yeah, yeah…" the old man interrupted him and rummaged through a beautiful red bag with a yellow painted dragon surrounded by lotuses..
"Aha! This is for you young man, you know you remind me a lot of myself back in the day" the old man said as he handed the boy a book.
'So are we going to ignore the fact that you interrupted me?' The boy silently thought to himself.
"Thank you?"
He accepted the book, as he did not really want to refuse the old man's "kindness".
"Well I gotta run! Thanks for the present!" The boy shouted as he ran off.
"Ah yes, what a nice young man. I look forward to seeing what he will be able to accomplish in 'that place'." The old man said as he looked up into the beautiful blue sky, "Isn't that right, old friend?"
He added as he seemed to vanish in the blink of an eye.
Only a whisper in the wind was left behind.
After a few hours, the boy was done with university and his part time job and arrived home. As he threw his bag on his desk, the book he received from the old man slipped out.
The book looked fairly ordinary, except for the symbol on the cover, it looked like seven stars in a particular order. It's cover was hard and black, and the pages had a yellow tint to them. As he opened the book, he saw a weird symbol, which looked somewhat like an abstract art piece.
As he touched it, something happened. The clocks reversed, his phone went haywire and the symbol lit up. Outside the seven stars in the sky that form part of the Big Dipper shone brightly, before the boy got sucked into the book. When he awoke, he saw a red moon, and a dark-ish sky.
