''So, when will you be back?''
''If the weather is favorable over here, and it is confirmed that what we did here was a success, I should be there with you in Los Angeles before night fall, Your Majesty.''
Azrael smirked while tightening his hold on the wheels listening to her crisp voice on the earbuds.
''So, we could finally go on that date we talked about?'' He teased not being able to hold his smile at his lovely right hand. There was a long silence before the call was disconnected, and he burst into laughter. Taking off the earbuds to examine the little pear-shaped devices he was given too as a means of communication here on earth and threw it out of the window with a scoff.
Man's technology, always basic and replicas of what they see in Hell when some of them visit.
Azrael stepped out of his car, and he already had many heads turned towards him from every corner of the busy streets. It wasn't hard not to notice him due to his height and body structure. His style of dressing made him look very demure. He was putting on a pretty expensive designer suit that highlighted his features to perfection. A long, princely robe attached with a golden cuff around his broad shoulders. His hair braided in neat pick and drop strands. Half of them packed neatly into a tight bun while the longer ones swayed with each step he took.
Drawing every attention to himself left and right. Even those driving past him as he moved down the sidewalk would slow down to have a good look and confirm whether he was human or not. Azrael wasn't obvious to how his looks affected all kinds of races, and he showered in it. Bringing his gloved hands once in a while to brush those loose strands of his hair that would fall on his face, winking at the growing group of women that gathered to gaze at him from across the road.
They waved, and he waved back, blowing them a kiss with a subtle smile on his face. It wouldn't be that difficult to get laid. If not for his sudden arranged marriage with a mortal woman, he is yet to meet or judge if she was worth even a strand of his beautiful locks, he would have driven them all home to have lots of fun.
He continued his stroll back to the police station. Who would have thought that almost eight months of being on earth he would get scammed of a tiny bit of his wealth he'd acquired by a measly human. Their police force had been so reluctant when he requested to be given a gun to blow his head off like fireworks. Here on earth, he is a noble businessman who would like to keep his background and other family ties or relationships confidential from public disclosure. He dared not hit these humans that an upper ranked demon aka the king himself was walking freely in their midst.
It could cause something bigger than global warming. And it could disrupt their secret mission here on earth.
He approached the building and stepped in once the electronic doors slid open and went through another round of having every eyes on him. He smiled at those who were secretly heavily influenced by demonic essence. The lower demons taking over their body to fulfill all hellish dreams recognized their king immediately and bowed their heads discreetly at him. Azrael nodded at the police officers and criminals alike, greatly pleased that they haven't been dragged yet to any ridiculous exorcism center.
They shall be personally rewarded in Hell once this is over.
The scent of caramel with the faint wisp of jasmine had him pausing in his tracks in the middle of the busy hall of the station.
Did I just imagine that?
He turned his head quickly and the human was already storming out of the door with three people heavy on her trail.
Azrael stood dumbstruck in the middle of the room, his jaw kissing the ground in disbelief.
She was as sexy as the kingdom he governed over.
He couldn't move, his eyes trained on her retreating form until she disappeared from his line of sight. He moved his head in a way to have a better look at her, but she was already gone.
He has never been so captivated by anyone's looks or aura to turn heads at them. It was always him who was on the receiving end.
How was she able to grab his attention just by a quick glance at her side view? She brushed past him. But not too fast to miss those angry, beautiful brown-red eyes of them and the intense fire he saw burning in them as she walked like she was on her way to have multiple heads rolling on the ground.
His eyes then darkened with determination. Hands shoved down in his pant pockets as he followed her with hurried steps.
Era stood at the curb as she waited for a taxi she would stop to drive her around the city to cool her head. She sent both Josh and Steph home and promised to be okay all by herself. Daniel running back to the station to settle Joel's mess as she had had enough. She stood there for more than three minutes, patiently waiting for any taxi her that would agree to drive her around the city to pull herself together.
She was not aware of the haunting form of the demonic presence who stood not to close and watched her from afar. His diamond eyes sparkling with mouth-watering desire at every movement she made. Every sexy and unintentional move of frustration she made with her hair. He tilted his head a bit to the side in concern at how distress she was. It was obvious she wanted to have a mental breakdown but was doing all she could to hold it together.
His eyes moved from her hair down to her slender neck. They burned with a silent hunger at her perfect curves. She wasn't as tall as he would have preferred, but a small smile graced his lips as he thought he would find her so adorable if he was opportune to have her buried in his arms.
He tilted his head again to the other side as he couldn't get enough of her, no matter how many angels he viewed her from. The feeling he had towards her was not only lust. It was accompanied by a different feeling he were unable to name or describe.
He wanted so bad to hold her, touch her or better yet get to know her. When she finally caught him staring. She blew his mind into tiny pieces of pebbles when she only glanced at him briefly and looked away like he was just any other random guys she had seen in her life.
She wasn't stunned like every other girl had done when they lay their eyes on him every time.
Maybe she was too far away from him to notice.
Azrael smirked and walked up to her with a bag filled up with ego. Era stepped back startled by his sudden closeness. The man was no longer staring at her but smiling down creepily at her like a freak.
The smile fell from the demon's handsome face as this weird girl wasn't even the slightest bit impressed by the sight of a god standing before her. They maintained eye contact for the longest of time in silence, Era wondering why he appeared so frustrated just by staring at her. She waited patiently for him to say something…anything. But he just stared at her in vivid confusion.
He then cocked one of those perfectly shaped eyebrows at her when he still got nothing from her. Not even a hidden sign of admiration on her face because they could be shy at times.
There was nothing.
She was so lifeless and uninviting.
It's just a pain she was so beautiful to be ignored by him.
''What?'' She asked alarmed when this creepy tall stranger wouldn't stop gazing down at her like she was the most interesting thing in the world. His eyes appeared captivated just by the sound of her voice. It wasn't as high-pitched and irritating like most girls he had bedded. It was cool, calm but void of emotion. ''Are you lost?''
She stared at him from head to toe. With his peculiar style of dressing and form, he was definitely not from around here.
''Do you need help with finding your place…?'' She wondered out loud when he wouldn't stop staring. She stepped back and rubbed her hands on her left elbow when he was starting to creep her out. She calmly waved down the next taxi that approached them and didn't care anymore if he would be interested in driving her around for hours until she cleared her head.
She just wanted to leave this place.
Once the taxi pulled to a stop, she walked over to the back seat and pulled the car door open. He then noticed that she was also barefooted. She spared him one last worried glance before entering the car. The urge to stop her from leaving was intense, but he just had to hold it all back.
She was not like any other girls. Who knows, she might not even be human. No living being has never been able to resist how otherworldly he is.
No, not even Vanessa. He couldn't count the number of times he had caught her staring at him while they worked.
But her…
His eyes followed as the car drove by him.
She is also disturbingly familiar.
Azrael tried his best to brush off his bizarre encounter with this human off his shoulders like it was nothing when it was a lot to him.
If that was my bride….
The king of Hell couldn't stop the smile that formed on his lips.
