The pain he suffered from having his nose broken by his sister kept him up all night not regretting every single bad thing he has ever done. He slept on the cold floors of the cell moaning all day and night at the throbbing pain.
Now, who would ever want to kiss him again?
He shook his head. He palmed his forehead as his broken nose also induced the worst kind of headache in him. Likewise, he had been feeling dizzy as well as nauseous. This place was not even fit for an animal to live or survive in talkless of a human being.
Joel gasped like his life was minutes away from leaving him. He asked for a private cell, and they gave him the worst kind. Must be officer James petty way of getting back at him for all the trouble he'd caused him too. They all overreacted when he was only disciplining his rebellious sister for ignoring his texts.
Why would he get a broken nose because of it?
It was so unfair!
Life's unfair!
He just needed money to fund his latest album he had been working so passionately for weeks. It would be so tiring if he'd applied for a loan or better yet asked his ever-so hardworking millionaire sister. When he had an opportunity to steal it he could not resist. He is just trying to fight for his future here. Why are they all just overcomplicating things for him!
If not that his nose had been smashed like a jell paste, frowning would not be that difficult for him. Joel cried out.
Once he gets out of this rat-hole, the first person that would have more than her nose being fucked up would be Era. He balled his hands into a tight fist with his jaw set firm for plans of vengeance. It was now he knew he had been blessed with the worst family any sensible man would hope for.
They were not supportive of his dreams and ambitions, they tagged him as a criminal even before he became one. The manner in which they all gazed down at him with little eyes was also becoming unbearable. Even their father lost faith in him when he was twelve by passing the cup of his inheritance over him to the child who came from the woman he married.
He didn't once care for the other two bastards he got from his prostitutes.
He wanted so hard to prove them all wrong. Especially that pompous little bitch.
The sharp metallic clang that echoed through the corridor followed by the creaking of rusty hinges and the scarping of steel against concrete forced him to sit upright to welcome officer James and the weird enigma he scammed millions.
He walked up to him with a bright smile on his face as officer James closed the door and waited outside to watch.
Joel's eyes remained fixed at the enigma with each step he took towards him. When they were both at a safe distance, he waved his fingers and greeted with a playful grin.
''Hi, my dear one hundred million.''
Joel looked the other way to scoff before gazing back at him.
''I thought I told you to stop calling me that.''
Azrael tilted his head a bit to the left in disbelief.
''I thought I asked you to return the money you stole from me.''
Joel scoffed in total disbelief before saying with clenched teeth. ''I did not steal it. I am no thief. You wouldn't dare say that to my face if you knew who I am.''
Azrael looked down, deeply touched by his words.
''Yes, I have no idea who you are. You firstly introduced yourself to me as the culprit that robbed me of my money. How am I supposed to assume you might be better than that?''
Joel could not believe this man. His eyes lowered when he bent on his knees to stare directly at his face.
''I don't even give two horns about who you are. You took my money and I want it back right now, human.''
Joel frowned at his weird way of cussing out.
''Who uses horns as a cuss word?''
Azrael threw him a bored look.
Human…?
It resonated deeply in Joel that he stared back at the figure before him in haunting suspicion. A single sweat slipped down the side of his face as his heart began to race wildly in his chest.
He screamed.
''No, no, no. Get away from me!'' He shifted until his back hit the wall and began to cry out to officer James for help. Claiming at the top of his voice that the human he scammed was actually a demon!
Officer James sighed deeply, shook his head and walked away. Ignoring his loud cries to come back and help him.
Just say you can't afford to give him back his money. You don't call who you scammed a demon!
The officer shook his head as he left.
Joel felt trapped now face to face with a demon. Who would have thought his next big flop was to scam a demon. A living one. Who was oddly calm at the thought of just knowing what he is.
His eyes widened in paranoia, his whole body shook like a fish being forced out of the water, and he found it so difficult to breathe.
Azrael broke eye contact with him and sighed pathetically.
''So, you will be the first smart idiot to know I am not human?'' The king of Hell shook his head. ''What a day for both of us. Oh, well.''
Joel placed his hands quickly on his chest as he was this close to having a heart attack.
''Let's put the past behind us. What we should be more focused on is on what is before us.''
He whimpered, pressing his back to the wall as if begging the wall to save him from this monster. The true color of what he is shinning brightly at him in eerily.
''You know what I am, and I know what you are. We could both keep our mouths shut about it, and I will be more than generous to assume I gave you the money and get you out of this stinky place.''
Joel calmed at the prospects of escaping scamming a demon of a massive sum of money. It sounded too good to be true. And it could be a trap as well.
Azrael waited for a response from him, but it amazed him the more that this spineless thief before him was actually smarter than he thought.
''I don't believe you.''
''Not your fault. It's preached against to ever believe in a demon. Because of the misleading stereotype about every demon being a liar. Some of us just stick to being honest at desperate times. I won't blame you for doubting when you do not have a mission that is at stake here.''
Joel looked confused.
''No need to worry, There's no need to rush. I will allow you a month to think it through and let the kind officer know when you've made up your mind.''
Azrael stood straight and began to leave.
''Wh-wh…what if I don't agree to keeping my mouth shut about you for my freedom? What then are you going to do…to me?''
Azrael turned on his heels with a charming smile.
''Let's just say the least of your problems will be you rotting in here with a broken nose.''
Azrael grinned happily and left.
