You're a spy! What's the difference in spying for more than one?" he said and Violet felt the blood in her body run cold, unable to move a muscle until Ravon lifted up his chin until she had no choice but to meet his eyes.
His eyes gliding over the Red bruises around her neck even as he repeated his question, a nasty smile on his face as he opened his mouth to speak again.
"Did something happen?" Violet had to dig her nails hard into the skin of her palm, the subtle pain the only think that kept her from denying the accusation she knew was true, recalling the blood she had seen on Ravon's mouth after he shifted into a wolf and swallowed two men.
"He-he gave me assignments, strangled me and almost gorged out my eyes!" Violet said in a light stutter, even as her eyes became red from the exhertion from trying to keep herself in place when all she wanted to do was run.
She had expected at least some semblance of pity, terrified to see Ravon breathe a sigh of relief one extremely close to satisfaction as he stepped back.
"Thats good! It means nothing has changed! You should be dead in a week!" he said before turning around to walk back to his seat. "
'I'm the only one that deserves to stand by his side until he completely goes off the rails,' his gaze fixed on the potion on his table which he had made sure to water down to the barest minimum like he had been doing for the past week.
'Lord Eldric shouldn't be the only one with all the power!'
"Take the potion!" he snapped pointing at the small red bottle on his table. " Make sure it gets to Lord Cain now! if you'll still like to keep your head. Ensure you watch him take it before you leave!" he said barking orders at Violet who bowed lower than before until her head could see nothing but her feet. "Also! Lock the doors the second you leave. Lord Cain understands why. The doors are made from Argentum-silver!"
The thought that a lord would be okay with being locked in his own mansion sounded inane to Violet but again, she knew better than to ask.
"Yes, Vice!" she responded, before moving closer to his table and grabbing the potion, turning around to leave as fast as her legs could carry her, gently slamming the door before making her way back to Cain's private wing in the mansion on the third and topmost floor.
Passing other servants was easy as they all ignored each other like they were nothing but air, but it was the workers and other highly ranked people Violet had to be careful of. It didn't help that she was still yet to change into the uniform she had been given.
'This might be a good thing,' she thought to herself especially when she realized that it made her blend in better since most people either assumed she was highly ranked or too low to even deserve a uniform.
Holding the bottle firmly in her hand as she made her way up the stairs, she had just gotten to the top of it when she saw a man walking directly towards her with a slightly furious expression on his face. He had on normal clothes with a gold emblem attached to his his left pocket that showed that his rank was much higher than that of a worker.
Carefully, she moved to the side and bowed waiting for him to pass and completely ignore her only for her to suddenly see an arm shoot towards her, a second before she was shoved to the ground.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY YOU FUCKING RAT!" He snapped with a deep growl that seemed to emanate from the base of his throat, stamping his feet as he hurried down the stairs.
Violet had been shocked but regardless her main focus had been ensuring that the bottle didn't break as she held it to her chest, clenched safely in her hands. But unknown to her, she was completely unprepared for the force with which she fell to the ground even as she watched her own hands break the extremely fragile bottle.
"No!" she gasped in alarm as she watched the red liquid inside drench the pale blue shirt she wore leaving a huge stain that she didn't even glance at, her entire focus solely on the broken vial bottle in her hands and the missing liquid that was supposed to be inside it.
"I'm fucked!" she gasped in a low tone, speaking again in a much louder tone as she looked around and saw no one especially since most people were banned from being on the third floor. "I'm utterly fucked!"
The thought of going back to Ravon for another bottle was something she wasn't willing to do and the thought of going back upstairs without the weird medicine was another idea she refused to entertain as she mind began to whirl in desperation for a solution.
'Oh my God! Oh my God!' she internally screamed, realizing that she didn't even know the face of the person that had shoved her. "I-I need another potion!" Violet mumbled to herself as she slwoly made her way down the stairs and through the path that had taken her to Ravon's office. She had just gotten to the long and large corridor that led to it when she froze.
The fear was engrained in her bones, as various images of what Ravon would do to her kept on flashing through her mind, as she hid behind a pillar, sliding her hands through her short hair as she dug her hands in and squeezed, hoping the painw ould give some clarity. A few minutes went by and Violet still couldn't bring herself to go in.
"I-I can't!" tears pooling in her eyes as she began to contemplate her chances of successfully running away from the mansion and mostly for her dear life.
