Delphinia pressed her lips together as tightly as she could, struggling to keep her expression neutral. Julian's casual question about a reception or party had caught her off guard, and she felt her chest tighten with unease. Did they really have to talk about this right now? She looked at Evander, still the picture of calm like nothing had happened.

No, this wasn't the time for discussing cakes or tuxedos. They should've been worrying about how their parents would take the news of their sudden marriage—a thought that tied Delphinia's nerves into knots.

She knew, without a shred of doubt, that Evander hadn't informed his parents about their marriage either. And if his parents didn't approve? If they decided she wasn't suitable for their son? Delphinia's throat tightened at the thought. She could just imagine being kicked out of the Walton estate without a second thought, back to living under the same roof as Valerie.
