Delphinia stood by the bed, her hands gripping the edges of the mattress as she took deep breaths, trying to calm her spiraling thoughts. She inhaled sharply, held it for a moment, and exhaled, only to repeat the cycle again. It didn't seem to help. She rubbed her temples as if kneading them might somehow massage away the headache forming there. Her voice, a low murmur, escaped her lips as she muttered to herself.
"This is crazy… No, impossible… I got divorced two days ago, and now this? Married to a stranger?"
She sounded like she couldn't wrap her head around it, but it was plain as day. She was now tied to a man she barely knew. The very thought of it sent a shiver of regret crawling down her spine. If only she'd stayed home last night. Watching some terrible soap opera would've been a much safer choice than going out to a club with Valerie, where her life had apparently turned into one of those overly dramatic TV dramas.
