Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Is it really a deity descended from heaven?

Tamarid returned to Kaplan and decided to write a letter about the recent events at the Axel estate.

"Dear Mr. Axel,

I have the honor of writing to you to highlight the recent events surrounding an attempt by a certain Conrad Empire to take over our lands. Through a concerted effort, we were able to repel the attack, but the city's marketplace suffered significant losses.

In light of these recent events, a noble merchant from the Duchy of Rosedale has made a demand for 1000 gold as compensation for the damage. Otherwise, he has threatened to raise the issue of invasion at the upcoming Convocation. Unfortunately, we do not currently have the necessary amount.

Therefore, I would like to know if Kaplan can count on your support in case of a full-scale invasion?

With deep respect and hope for understanding,

Tamarid Kaplan."

The head of the city sighed re-reading the letter, making sure he had written it correctly and sent the letter directly to Count Axel.

Quintus opened his eyes, lay in bed for a while and started to get up. He wanted to eat, it was unbelievable how badly.

Quint got up, stretched, and went down to the first floor. Suddenly, he saw a piece of paper on the table that he kind of didn't notice last time. He walked over to the desk, picked up the piece of paper, and started reading:

"Chances are, by the time you read this letter, Quintus, we're already safe. So I can write directly without choosing my words.

You are a bastard who is preventing just us from enjoying a complicated life. You're a man I never want to meet again. Sir... No, you're a brat Quintus, yes. You're the brat who-- who-- well, fuck off!

With hatred,

Deguchi."

After reading the letter, Quintus's eye began to twitch with anger. He wanted so badly to find this Deguchi, grab him by the throat, mock him, and sell him into slavery.

Suddenly, he noticed a tuck in the leaf. Unfolding it to the end he saw a new text:

"We took all the food, there's nothing in the village! I hope you die!"

Quintus laughed and yelled:

- You won't live!

After a while, Quint calmed down, squeezed the paper to a lump and threw it out the open window:

- Tsk...

Quint stepped out of the house. His stomach rumbled.

He decided to look for food after all:

- They couldn't have taken it all away!

He looked for food for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour! He couldn't find it.

- They took it all away after all.

Quintus left the village. He was hungry very hungry. After looking around, he decided to walk as far away from Gliesha and Kaplan as possible. He walked for quite a long time. Turning around once more, Quintus sees a stopped cart. As he got closer, he saw blood. This piqued his interest a bit and he decided to look into the situation a bit:

- What if there's food in there... Mmm! 100%, there's food in there! - Quintus thought and climbed inside the cart.

There he saw a dead man who looked like a rather weak adventurer, and in the distance, in the shadows he saw a man lying on the floor with a masked man swinging at him.

Quintus doesn't hesitate to help the man lying there:

- He'll owe me one!

A tug!

Quint throws a punch to the head. The masked man barely had time to do anything before he flew off to the side. In place of the wall was a canvas, causing the masked man to fly outward. Looking out, Quintus was able to get a closer look at the man.

The man had a black mask over his face, painted in a rather strange pattern. There were eyeholes in the mask. No hair was visible, for he wore a hood. The clothes were unremarkable.

- Hey, what are you doing?! - shouted the masked man, his voice was male, though he may have changed it with some attributes or something.

- Nothing, what about you? - Quintus replied with a slice of mockery.

- Are you kidding me?! Do you even know who I am?! - shouted the masked man.

- You're a guy who thinks he's whoever the hell he is, and you're showing off in front of God! Get down, you miserable creature! - Quintus shouted back. It pissed him off that this guy was showing off in front of him.

- Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! God?! Calm down, you pathetic aristocrat! - shouted at Quintus by the guy in the mask.

- You're already dead... - said Quintus and rushed to kill this *not a good man*.

The masked guy got to his feet and looked at the place where Quintus was, but noticed that he was no longer there. He started to look around, looking for his opponent. Suddenly, a ringing sound of cutting through the air could be heard from the ground.

Whoosh!

Quint's katana flew upwards. The masked man, pulled out his 2 daggers and tried to block his opponent's attack.

The sharp side of the katana was pointing upwards, that is, at the masked man's head.

But...

Instead of continuing this, Quintus started to change the position of the katana so that it hit him directly in the heart.

The masked man noticed this and lowered one dagger to protect that area.

A clang!

The daggers blocked any movement of the katana. Quintus had to stealthily use fire, to heat the katana blade.

The masked man didn't notice it. Each of them tried to get through. But suddenly, the katana blade melts through the masked man's daggers and Quintus' weapon hits him right in the chest.

The masked man is frozen in place and after a while when Quintus takes out the bloody katana falls to the ground.

Standing over his defeated foe, Quintus felt mixed feelings - a certain sense of joy that he was able to do this, but also disgust at his opponent, for he had forced him to put a fraction of his strength into it. It was a rather rare occurrence. He squatted down and removed the mask from the man. After that, a rather beautiful girl, with long black hair, came into view. Her face was scarred, but even so it seemed feminine to him.

This confused Quintus, for he thought it was a boy. Looking closer at the mask, he saw a mechanism that harnessed the natural energy of the stones. This thing was clearly not made by a human, most likely a gnome.

Quintus had had enough of all this and walked towards the wagon. When he reached it, he stepped inside and saw a withdrawn man in the corner.

He did not look tall. Suddenly he said:

- Thank you... Thank you for saving me. - The man Quintus had saved was on his knees, probably without even seeing his savior.

- Raise your head. - said Quintus.

Executing the order, the man raised his gaze to his savior. Suddenly, sunlight and a breeze came through the small window and brightened Quintus' face.

- Are you all right? Is there any food here? - Quintus asked. His hair developed elegantly in the faint breeze, and the sunlight gave him a God-like effect.

The man on the stakes said nothing, but a thought flashed through his mind:

- Did the gods bring their son down to our sinful world.....

He felt a certain greatness of his savior. Thousands appeared in his mind. No, millions of deifications of his savior.

Suddenly, he decided:

- I'll do whatever it takes to make sure he achieves his goals...
