- Please, let me serve you! - he screamed, on his knees.
Quintus thought he did not hear him well and asked him to repeat it:
- What, say that once more?
- Please let me serve you! - the man yelled, knocking his head against the floor all the time on his knees.
This time Quintus understood he had not heard him.
-Well. - thought Quintus.
- Please! - shouted the man.
Quintus's stomach rumbled.
- Bring food. - Quintus said.
The man got up and went to the sacks in which he was carrying various goods. Digging through, he found something and brought it to Quintus.
It was the first time he'd seen this "dish" and the look of it.
- Are you sure you can eat that?
- Yo soy .
- ¡júralo!
- Si
- O.K., I believe you.
The food was in a jar that hadn't been sealed right. As soon as Quintus had touched the lid, it fell inside and dropped into the food. When he ordered the man to pull the lid off, he was speechless. Perhaps it was some strange effect of hunger, but there he saw a lot of scary faces.
- Aah!" Quintus exclaimed across the wagon. The man covered his ears. - Bring something else! - Shouted Quintus and threw the jar away. The contents flowed across the floor. - Yes, right away. - replied the man and went to the bags. There he searched for food for a few minutes. Suddenly he found what he was looking for and returned to Quint.
Here you are, he said and passed the meal to him.
Some kind of stew, it was. Due to the fact that food was brought from very far away, all types of food were tin-canned.
Quintus opened the meal and peered inside of the can. It looked more or less edible in appearance.
Quintus tried it. A minute passed. The one who brought the meal just stood there confused; he was afraid. Suddenly. :
- Mmm. Delicious! - Quintus exclaimed and began to eat voraciously like a child.
The man loosened up and smiled.
After having finished his meal the man said:
- Please, may I serve you?
- Do you have food?
- Yes. replied
- Then serve. I Quintus Conrad accept you as my faithful servant. - said Quintus looking at his servant. - By the way, what is your name?
- My name is Rupert Faith, Mr. Quintus.
- Then let's go. Hmm. In short, to the capital! - said Quint, after some thought.
- Yes, sir. - Rupert answered and left Quintus's sight.
Quintus made himself comfortable, and in about a minute the wagon started.
Quintus was very bored. It used to be interesting to advance the empire, but now, he could only manage this Rupert.
- his plan for the creation of the biggest empire has failed, and before he could at least seize the town of Kaplan everybody in the village of Glishi ran away, a new plan was needed. - thought Quintus. - Well. I've eaten, now I will sleep.
Quintus fell asleep on a chair.
***
A couple of hours passed.
-Mr. Quintus, we're here. Rupert said and woke Quintus with his hand.
- Huh? Already? I'm up. Quintus said in a sleepy voice.
Quintus opened his eyes, saw Rupert was standing beside him.
Quint closed his eyes and let out a sigh.
- Mr. Quintus, don't fall asleep! Rupert said.
-When you find a place for us to sleep and eat, wake us up. - said Quintus and went to sleep again.
- All right, Mr. Quintus. - said Rupert and left closing the wagon.
Quintus had a wonderful dream before Rupert woke him up:
*
- Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! - shouted Quint.
- No, don't! I admit it, I'm nothing! - screamed the miserable father.
- Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! And you sent me to the world of the living to be re-educated! - shouted Quintus beating his father.
This dream Quintus couldn't, as he was awakened by Rupert.
*
- Shit! I can't sleep! I didn't finish that dream, bloody Rupert! - Shouted Quintus to the whole wagon.
Quintus stood up.
- Br-r-r-r. - Rupert made a sound. - It's cold!
Quintus got up and started doing different movements to warm himself up. He didn't understand it; it wasn't this cold in any of the other places that he had been. Quintus memorized the question and decided he would ask Rupert when he returned.
He waited for Rupert to come back soon with a place to sleep and food. He felt irritated that he now was having to depend upon a newly minted servant in an environment he was unfamiliar with. Of course, thanks to him he didn't need to do anything right now but even so he was also the reason he was cold right now.
Now he recalled the dream that had been cut short by Rupert, and there was something there-something with which he could have humiliated his father. Now the dream was slipping away from him; he could only remember strange sensations and blurred images.
Soon Rupert is back with news about the sleeping place and dinner. He speaks about a small inn where they were given a modest room and something to eat.
- Mr. Quintus, we can spend the night here. And dinner is included too. - says Rupert, offering help to Quintus out of the wagon.
- I am not some kind of weakling for you to help me out just to get myself out of the wagon! - shouted Quintus and got out of the wagon himself.
When he got out, he saw the three-story building that Rupert had gone to. Quintus assumed that it was just what he needed right now.
- Shall we go that way? - Quint asked, pointing his finger at the building.
-Yes, said Rupert.
Quintus, with his servant, entered the inn.
