Chapter 38: Whispers of Destiny
Ava's Training POV:
I stood in the training grounds, sweat dripping from my brow. Sabine faced me, her sword flashing in the sunlight.
"Focus, Ava!" Sabine shouted.
I parried her blow, my sword slicing through the air. Our blades clashed, sparks flying as we exchanged strikes.
"Your movements are slower," Sabine observed. "The pregnancy is affecting your reflexes."
I gritted my teeth. "I won't let it hold me back."
Sabine's expression turned serious. "You must protect yourself, Ava. And your child."
With renewed determination, I charged forward. Our swords danced, our movements fluid. I felt the ancient magic coursing through me, guiding my strikes.
For my child, for my pack, I would not fail.
Training would continue, but for now, duty called.
We gathered around the ancient texts, pouring over the prophecy's words. Kaida's eyes scanned the pages, her brow furrowed.
"'In darkness, she shall find the light,'" Kaida read aloud. "'With heart and soul, she shall conquer the night.'"
Sabine's expression turned thoughtful. "This sounds like more than just a battle. It sounds like a spiritual journey."
Kael's eyes locked onto mine. "Ava, are you prepared for this?"
I nodded. "I was born for this."
Valtor's voice interrupted our discussion. "There's more. The prophecy speaks of a choice, Ava. A choice between light and darkness."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. "What kind of choice?"
Kaida's expression turned grave. "A choice that will determine the fate of the realm."
Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside. Guards rushed in, their faces urgent.
"What is it?" Kael demanded.
One of the guards bowed. "The Shadow Brotherhood's army has been spotted, approaching our borders."
Our eyes met, a sense of determination passing between us.
