Chapter 43: Lyrien's Promise
Ava's POV
As Lyrien's true identity sank in, I felt a mix of emotions. This changed everything.
"Why keep your identity hidden?" I asked Lyrien.
Lyrien's eyes clouded. "My family's assassination... I was the only survivor. I've been in hiding, waiting for the right moment to reclaim my throne."
Aethera's expression turned thoughtful. "Lyrien's presence could be crucial in the prophecy's unfolding."
Kael's grip on my hand tightened. "We'll support Lyrien, but our priority remains Ava's safety and the baby's well-being."
Elara nodded. "I'll ensure Ava receives the best care. But for now, rest is crucial."
As I settled into my bed, Lyrien approached me.
"Ava, I swear to protect you and your child. You're the key to restoring balance to our realm."
I smiled weakly. "Thank you, Lyrien. But first, let's survive this."
As night fell, I felt a strange sensation - the baby stirred, and I sensed a sudden surge of magic.
"Aethera," I whispered, alarmed.
Aethera appeared beside me. "What is it, Ava?"
"The baby... I think it's responding to Lyrien's presence."
Aethera's eyes sparkled. "This changes everything. The prophecy's threads are weaving together."
Suddenly, the door burst open. A hooded figure entered, their eyes fixed on me.
"Ava, you're the only one who can stop the impending darkness," the figure said, their voice low and urgent.
"Who are you?" Kael demanded.
The figure revealed a symbol on their wrist - the mark of the ancient Order of the Moon.
