Chapter 37: A new life II
Ava's POV:
I stood in our quarters, Kael's arms wrapped around me. Our child grew inside me, a tiny spark of life that filled me with joy and worry.
"Kael, I'm scared," I whispered.
Kael's lips brushed against my ear. "I am too, Ava. But we'll face this together. We'll protect our child, our pack... our future."
I turned to face him, my eyes searching his. "What if something happens to me? To our child?"
Kael's expression turned resolute. "Nothing will happen to you, Ava. I promise. And if it does, I'll be there to protect our child. Always."
Sabine's voice interrupted our moment. "Ava, Kael, we need to discuss our strategy. The Shadow Brotherhood is closing in."
We joined Sabine and the others in the war room, maps and plans spread before us.
Kaida's eyes locked onto mine. "Ava, I need to tell you something. Something important."
"Go on," I encouraged.
Kaida took a deep breath. "The prophecy... it's about you, Ava. You're the key to defeating the Shadow Brotherhood."
Kaida's words hung in the air, but I felt no surprise. Deep down, I'd known. I'd felt it in my bones, in the ancient magic coursing through my veins.
"I knew," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Kael's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
I took a deep breath. "I've felt it, Kael. The ancient magic, it's been guiding me. I knew I was the key, but I didn't know what it meant."
Sabine's expression turned thoughtful. "This changes everything."
Kaida nodded. "The prophecy speaks of a woman with the heart of a warrior and the soul of a leader. A woman who will bring balance to the realm."
Valtor's eyes locked onto mine. "Ava, you're more than just a key. You're the hope the realm needs."
I felt the weight of destiny settling upon me. I was ready to accept it.
"We need to know more about the prophecy," Kael said, his voice firm. "What are the risks, and what do we need to do to ensure Ava's safety?"
Kaida's expression turned grim. "The prophecy warns of great danger, Ava. You'll face darkness and temptation. But with your courage and determination, we can defeat the Shadow Brotherhood."
I stood tall, my heart filled with resolve. "I'm ready. Let's do this."
