Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The young man looked around to see himself in the middle of a forest with a bunch of other people who looked equally confused. He didn't recognize any of them and immediately distanced himself from the group. Being unsure as to what's happening he thought it would be best to keep other ppl at a distance.

The trees were giant in this forest being upwards of 100 times bigger than what he had seen in Pennsylvania. He inspected each of the people in his group and considered what to do next. Soon enough he settled on just watching the people around him and focusing on his new environment. Now he could feel what almost felt like water vapor in the air. Jaycee could feel the mana in the atmosphere and sensed the small amount of mana 'evaporating' from the people next to him.

There were 14 other people and all of them seemed to be completely different. They were all from different countries in a seemingly random fashion. Everyone talked confusedly and many of them were scared. People began to talk to each other and it seemed the same thing had happened to everyone. They had been offered the same selection of classes and were eventually all teleported to this place.

'Welcome to the tutorial. In this tutorial you find yourself in the Rartock countryside where the vacant castle of a lost kingdom still stands. Beasts have taken over the area and will hunt any human they find. Kill other people or beasts to gain tutorial points that can be spent at the end of the tutorial. The tutorial will automatically conclude in exactly 90 days and you will be sent back to your planet. Good luck. Time remaining: 89 days 23 hours 55 minutes 35 seconds'

Jaycee scanned the message that popped up and winced slightly. This was looking pretty real so far, and he was worried for other people. Mostly his family worried him. Assuming death was permanent in this place his family could be in danger. He had to survive to help his mother and extended family. People talked to each other and slowly a social hierarchy was formed.

They all had weapons and were a decent spread of each class. There were two heavy warriors, one healer, 3 medium warriors, 3 light warriors, 3 archers, and 3 mages including Jaycee. An older 40 year old man was beginning to settle in a leader-like role and was asking people to introduce themselves. Jaycee watched the introductions committing each name to memory even if he wasn't socially inclined.

A short older Asian woman was up but she just silently looked at everyone. There was a pause as people waited for her to speak. After 10 seconds they realized she wouldn't and moved on. Many of them were from America and Europe while there were a few from Africa and the islands in the southeast. The man almost skipped over Jaycee but noticed him at the last second. "Oh and we got one more. Why don't you introduce yourself." The man said. His name was Red and he was an office worker who chose the medium warrior class.

Sighing and stepping forward, Jaycee bowed slightly to the group. "Hi everyone. You guys can call me Jaycee. I go to college in the USA and I'm a caster. And I'm a marketing major." He flashed an awkward smile and stepped back. He had gotten used to just saying his major when introducing himself.

"Alright then we should do some scouting. Can anyone climb any of these trees?" Red asked. A man only a few years older than Jaycee raised his hand and put his daggers back into their sheaths. Jaycee slowly shuffled to be standing right next to the healer. The asian woman seemed to be mute but he knew healers were always important. He thought it would be best to at least protect her as no one else was.

They stood in a random group at the base of a tree as the man scaled the giant tree. He was carefully making his way up the tree. Jaycee could tell the man was an experienced climber from the way he looked at the tree. In this free time, Jaycee began to examine the spells he 'knew'. The casting ability he had gotten earlier gave him the bare bones knowledge to begin casting spells.

He leaned against the tree and tried to manipulate mana in the air in front of him. But when he tried to control the energy it felt like he was just pushing it around. He focused on trying to create a spell at the end of his staff and a large mass of energy condensed. A simple spell called Mana bolt. It was essentially a blast of energy. Jaycee shot off the bolt at a different tree and left a nice little dent in the wood. He would compare the impact of a baseball bat.

'Skill developed 1/100'

He tilted his head curiously. He can apparently create skills and had just started making one.

MP 95/100

His mana points had gone down as well to create the bolt but it was only 5 points. The only other spell he knew innately, was a similar spell that essentially made a barrier the size of a door to protect him. He also started developing a skill with that spell. The other mages watched him and mimicked him. They excitedly shared the stuff they were doing with everyone else.

Jaycee frowned as he felt a bad energy in the air. Spinning on a dime while creating a mana bolt he shouted. "There's a beast here." Heads turned to see large car sized bull charge at them through the trees. Jaycee released a mana bolt that shattered against the bulls face. He used the identify ability,

[Raging Bull lvl 5]

Already his aim was pretty good after a few shots. It slowed the beast slightly but did absolutely nothing in the long run. It was about to reach the group as Red was able to get the heavy warriors in front. The two large heavily armored men raised their heavy shields against the horns and were pushed back 10 feet. They looked hurt but nothing serious had happened yet.

Jaycee shot another mana bolt as Red directed people to shoot at the bull. Jaycee circled around the side and was blasting its ankles with mana. Eventually he angered the beast enough for it to turn on him.

Diving to the side he narrowly avoided getting skewered on its horn. Arrows peppered its tough hide and stuck out of it like a porcupine. It swung its head to the side trying to catch Jaycee on his back foot. Its horn tore his robe but left him mostly untouched.

He rolled to his feet and summoned a barrier in front of himself, barely buying enough time for him to avoid the next attack. He was getting tired. His mana levels were at less than half and he was still deeply embroiled in this combat. The bull seemed good to keep attacking for many more minutes.

And none of his archers or mages were confident they wouldn't hit him. Jaycee finally reached the heavy warriors who took over the brunt of the attention. With all the warriors up front and the light warriors occasionally running in and stabbing its flank it was soon dead. Jaycee breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned against a tree. He looked at all of his resources and smiled to himself.

'Beast slain. 15 TP has been given to you for your contribution'

'Class Level Gained:0-2'

MP: 75/160

HP: 76/80

SP: 67/100

His stamina had been spent from all the running around and physical activity he was doing. The small amount of health he lost was when the bull had thrown him by grabbing his robes. His robes were a dark gray that made his brown eyes look very dirty. The dreads that came down to his nose shook as he tried to clear his head. That felt very real and death didn't feel far.

Jaycee lowered himself to the ground as the others chatted and discussed what to do. Eventually they ended up cutting the beast up and storing it in everyone's satchels for later. By the time the climber came back down, the beast was skinned and dissected. A bunch of them were congratulating him on his performance and how brave he was.

He received the compliments with a gentle smile and waited for the group to move. Maybe he could survive by himself, but he saw no reason to leave this group of decent people. Next time he's not throwing himself into the deep end for any of these people. He had made a small amount of progress with the mana bolt.

'Ability Developed 5/100'

The barrier was 3 behind and still felt weak in comparison to what other people were doing. Any of the warriors would be able to easily shatter his barrier. His mana bolt did go any farther than 10 meters as well. Normally he wouldn't take risks but his agility was pretty high and he ended up being the closest when it came.

The man who climbed up the tree said he saw a small building half a mile north or whatever direction it was in. They had no way to tell. Jaycee pushed himself up as he followed the group through the forest. Bestial roars were common in this place and Jaycee saw tracks and evidence of beasts everywhere. He walked beside the small Asian woman who tended one of the heavy warriors.

The man was 30 years old and had dark skin. He was clearly from Africa and seemed very stressed. Jaycee caught his eye and the man spoke up. "Good to see the youth still has bravery." The man smiled at Jaycee and smacked him in the shoulder.

"I have you to thank Omari. Things would be impossible if I didn't have any help." Jaycee said.

The man chuckled to himself while laying his shield across his lap. He was tall and strong. "Eh, it's the people who are leading that are the most unique. Hey, why didn't you choose a different class? The way you fought didn't look like much of a mage." Omari said.

Jaycee shrugged. "I don't really like being all up close. I don't like getting into fights. That was just the adrenaline." He said.

Omari nodded and stared off into the distance. "You remind me of my younger brother. Lazy at first glance, but under is a talented, passionate young man." The dark-skinned man said. Jaycee tilted his head.

"Beasts ahead of us!" Someone shouted. Jaycee turned his head rapidly as he heard the barking of what sounded like wild dogs. A few seconds later a group of wild dogs looked around the corner of their tongues hanging out of their mouth. His mana had been recharging slowly and was now at 100. He drifted next to the healer and began casting as the group of 5 beasts crashed into their front line.

Omari rushed to the front line and smashed his shield into the dogs snout crushing the things face. Jaycee threw a few mana bolts back there but found this fight was painfully easy in comparison to what they just went through. Each of these dogs were only levels 1 and 2 in comparison. Omari smashed into one sending it sprawling on the grass and only 20 seconds later the beasts were dead.

Jaycee received 2 TP points for his small amount of contribution. He walked a few feet away from the group as their goal came into view. It was a decently large building made of stone. It looked like it was some sort of fort that definitely would have some good gear inside.
