Chapter 5 - The Great Wife

Ryn turned around with her face in shock. The scene that she had witnessed was something straight out of a horror movie. A sword was visibly showing through Sil's chest, as a hand was placed over his mouth by the other guard that were with them. The man spoke to Ryn,

"You're a bright one, unlike this fool. Maybe I should have killed you first"

The man said as he pulled the sword from Sil's back and tossed him to the floor. Ryn stood in silence staring down at Sil's lifeless body. She wanted to run knowing she had Teiryn on her back, but her body refused to move against her will.

"Don't worry I'm not going to harm the child. But you on the other hand, I won't allow you to speak of what you seen here today. That could put a error in the Lord's plan."

The man said while swinging his arm back, planning to charge Ryn and strike her down

before she could make her escape. Seeing the man prepare to attack her, Ryn's mind finally let her gain back control over her body. She moved to avoid the man's attack at the last second, preparing for the inevitable.

The man's attack had caught Ryn by surprise. She couldn't decide on whether she should run or fight back, but now her mind was made up. With her enemy being the one to make the first move, she felt as if her choice was made for her whether she wanted to fight or not. When the man had swung his sword he did in fact miss Ryn, but not completely. The tip of his sword had grazed her left shoulder, leaving a slight scratch through her clothing. Ryn stepped back

to get distance from the man, knowing that without room to draw her blade her and Teiryn's life would be at jeopardy. The man quickly struck again without hesitation seeing Ryn reach for the hilt of the sword on her hip. He felt that this would be the only chance for him to get a clean hit on the woman without

having to deal with a full out battle. After dodging the first blow Ryn had set her guard, not wanting to be surprised again. She Observed every move the man was intending to make. She felt that after all the time she had spent training with Tayaire, both him using and not using his time manipulation abilities, she had became extremely observant of slight changes in ones body movements. The training allowed her to be able to predict the movements he might make. As Ryn drew her blade, she parried the on coming attack while half of the sword was

still in the sheath. She was on the defensive, and knew it would stay that way until she could find a safe place for Teiryn. Ryn continued to block a few more of the man's attacks making sure to stay focused on his body movements,

"Who are you allied with?" Ryn asked the man.

He seemed confident that he would win

this fight. Ryn thought that if she held back long enough, letting him get the upper hand, the man would let some of the information slip out of his mouth. The man swung wildly with each attack, like a ferocious predator, starving for a meal.

"If only your family would have accepted the invitation to join the union, we wouldn't have to do this." The man said as Ryn blocked each attack,

"Do you know how simple it would be for us to all come under one rule. Neuvaria needs

stability, we need a dictatorship to keep control and order."

His attacks became more dense, baring more weight with each strike.

A pinkish-red orb began to form in the palm of Ryn's free hand as she blocked another of the man's attacks.

"Control and Order?" Ryn muttered as she pushed the man's attack back, causing him to stumble backwards.

She quickly pushed her hand forward, unleashing a small spirit blast towards her target. The man stabilized his footing quickly, trying not to allow any openings for another attack. As he could see the woman in front of him shoot energy from her hand he raised his sword. He intended to deflect the small ball of

energy with his sword, but when the ball made contact with the weapon, the ball began to grow in size. The spirit blast felt heavier than the man thought. The force of the blast against his blade caused his feet to slide against the floor, pushing him back at least twenty feet.

"This is my chance!" Ryn thought as she sheathed her sword and unwrapped the sling holding Teiryn on her back.

Ryn safely rewrapped Teiryn in the cloth and gently placed him behind a pillar of Alphium.

"Don't worry, mommy will be back soon." She

said, then she gave him a kiss on his forehead.

As Ryn laid her lips on the boy's skin, several images flashed in her head. She jerked back in shock,

"You're just like him." Ryn smiled as the boy's eyes opened and glowed with a purple hue.

Ryn stood up and walked towards the man, who at the moment was down on one knee

using his sword to maintain his balance. Ryn drew her sword with determination in her eyes. She knew that this battle was only one of many to come and that if she was to allow her enemy to escape, it could mean the end of her and her son's life.

"For the sake of my family we will end this here." Ryn spoke pointing the tip of the blade in the man's direction.

Tayaire and the man charged each other, clearing the distance between the two in a matter of seconds. As their swords clashed

against each other, it was evident that both the men were equal in physical power.

"Uther Pendragon? You were supposed to be dead centuries ago." Tayaire said as he tried to over power the man and push him back.

Uther was a muscular, Pale white man with long brown hair, his eyes glowed a crimson red, the same as the runes on his sword.

"Looks like someone payed attention in history class." Uther spoke with a sly grin, not allowing the laugh he held back to slip out.

"I know a lot about you as well Tayaire."

The man grabbed his sword with two hands

and swung it with brutal force. The attack was blocked, but the force of the strike had sent Tayaire flying through the air, breaking several trees along the way. In the end he crashed a few feet into a mountain side. "Where did this guy come from?" Tayaire thought as he pulled himself from the crater in the mountain.

"His power certainly isn't that of spiritual energy. In fact, it's more like the power of The Soulless."

Tayaire was worn-out due to the constant fighting over the past two days, his body mourned for rest of any kind. When Tayaire stood up, he cracked his neck and looked around the area for his sword.

"I expected more from the man that they labeled 'The Honored One', but it seems like all of your titles are just that. Titles and nothing more."

As Tayaire looked in the direction the voice was coming from, Uther charged in with a well placed fist to Tayaire's stomach. The punch sent Tayaire flying right back into the

mountain with no time for a reaction. Uther ambushed Tayaire with a fury of punches, pushing him deeper and deeper as each blow landed. With each strike, Tayaire could feel his body giving in, becoming weaker and weaker until he finally passed out. There were no breaks, no gaps between each strike, just constant blows that were heavy and precisely placed towards his chest and stomach, until

he was pushed through the mountain flying out from the other end. Tayaire's unconscious body flew through the air after leaving the mountain, landing in a lake, sinking to the bottom.

"I thought that he would've been stronger than that." Uther said standing at the end of the tunnel that he had made using Tayaire's

battered body.

"If it's true what they say about you, you shouldn't be out for that long, so I'll wait."

After Tayaire's body finally reached the lake floor he regained consciousness. He was in excruciating pain, not able to move due to the damage to his body.

"Damn, that guy really whooped my ass." Tayaire thought while trying to gather nature spirit energy.

Nature spirit energy is the second stage of spirit energy manipulation. The second stage is used to collect and store spirit energy from organic matter found in nature. This energy then heals the body, also replenishing the core energy at a faster rate. As Tayaire laid at

the bottom of the lake, he closed his eyes and began to meditate focusing on every living thing around him. Small lights of energy began to draw from the plants and animals around the lake straight toward Tayaire, engulfing his body with a bright yellow glow.

"Seems like it's time that I took this battle to the next level." Tayaire thought, his face showing a trace of anger.

"Shetani, Gadreel." As Tayaire spoke these words his eyes shuttered open, glowing a bright yellow that changed to pitch black.

The only color in his eyes being the purple glow of his iris.

"Time for round two you asshole." Tayaire spoke with a demonic grin.
