'Everything hurts so bad' These were the last thoughts to go through my head as my body was smashed against the pavement by the runaway car. My consciousness started to fade rapidly as people gathered around to try to save me but it was already too late.
The next thing I knew was the abyss, total nothing as I drifted along. Well, nothing other than the pain that seems to have followed me, constant pain as my bones creak and my skin breaks. Aeons pass as the pain assaults me, and then out of the dark inky blackness comes a voice "Interesting what is a soul doing here?"
In front of my eyes, a room started to materialize with two armchairs and a small coffee table in between. An old man sat in one of the chairs and poured two cups of tea, "Come have a seat and a drink son. We can chat for a while, it has been a long time since someone has visited." After I sat down and picked up the teacup, taking a tentative sip I tasted the best tea I have ever had, it was sweet with a nice herbal flavour. "where exactly am I visiting?" I asked as I set the teacup down.
"This would be the void, that which is in between, the abyss that stares back. It has come to be known by many names, I have been living here for a while trying to avoid all the hassle of being a creator god. There is so much administrative work, and I have to judge people constantly with the line increasing hour by hour. What is your story I wonder?"
Looking into his eyes as he said that I saw as my life passed in front of our eyes, I was born into a family with two daughters already ten days before Christmas. I grew up into a troublesome child being a pain until I went into a nursery where I made a few friends and then lost them when I entered primary school, I yet again made a few friends and again lost them when I joined secondary. The story of my life continues its lacklustre course as I proceed to do my A-levels, all through this my source of entertainment is books, Harry Potter mostly I read the entire collection so many times some of the books are starting to fray I also enjoy some of the better fanfictions. In the year I turned 20 life started to get a little F##ky as the world shuts down and my mental and overall health did the same. Then he saw my death and sighed "You poor child, 23 years of a lacklustre life only to end in a very painful death. Then even worse to be expelled from the cycle of your world. I pity you so I am going to give you a second chance, I am going to send you to a world which I think you will enjoy the world of Harry Potter with a few changes of course. I will give you one wish so think carefully."
For the next 30 minutes, we didn't say a word, the silence being broken by sighs of enjoyment as we savoured the tea while I thought. Eventually, a thought came to my head. "I would like to wish for the powers/ abilities of Yogiri Takatou." The old man seems shocked by this before he sighs "Sadly I cannot bestow you his power because I am simply not powerful enough, that thing is many stages higher than me so I will have to ask you to choose again."
"I see then I would like to wish to be born with the potential to be stronger than Dumbledore and Grindelwald combined, this gives me something to work towards." The old man looked thoughtful for a second before saying "They both stem from the same family from the distant past so I will make you its sole descendant. Have you finished your tea?" I nodded as I set my cup back on the table and then I felt momentarily weightless as I started to fall into the abyss towards a distant blip of light.
However, I was intercepted on my journey by a long tendril of condensed darkness that grabbed me and pulled me towards it. A long slit-like eye opened in front of me followed by many more taking up the entirety of my view. "What a peculiar person asking for my powers, what would you do with them I wonder. Would you rule the world or would you kill everything... Nah you would live like I have been." The entity that I guessed was Yogiri Takatou stared at me for a long time until it seemed to make up its mind "I have decided to grant you my power, or at least a part of it. I would ask a price for this but what I would want in return you would never be able to pay so I will just attempt to seek enjoyment by watching your life, try not to bore me." The tendril then proceeded to throw me at the blip of light I was heading to before.
Travelling faster than when I was falling caused my consciousness to slam into the body which was chosen for me to inhabit, knocking it to the side and off of the bed it was lying on onto the floor with a clatter. A few moments later the door was opened and in the frame stood a small old woman who had a look of concern on her face. "Are you alright Erik?" she said with a heavy German accent.
