I placed the letter into my pocket as Daphne looked at me questionably, "What did the letter say?" Quickly deciding whether I should trust her or not I said "The front of the letter was addressed to me and told me to open it when alone." Nodding her head in understanding she quickly grabbed my shoulders before staring into my eye with a determined expression, "I will do my best to learn occlumency so that you can share your secrets with me, I will also do my best in my lady lessons so that I can do my best as your future wife." Finishing her words as her face gradually turned crimson from embarrassment she took the side of my face and planted a soft chaste kiss on my lips before running out of the room.
Heading back to my Gran I found that she was getting ready to leave, "We are departing soon Erik, make sure you have everything and say goodbye and thank Elizabeth for the invitation." Nodding at my grandmother's words I headed towards Elizabeth and said "Thank you, for the invitation and the lovely party I hope that we can have many such visits in the future. Enjoy the rest of your evening and until we meet again." Giving a quick bow I turned to go towards the carriage, however, was stopped in my tracks when Elizabeth's voice rang out in a teasing tone "Enjoy your evening too young Erik, do you intend to keep Daphne's lipstick on you for the rest of the night?" Quickly wiping my mouth I saw that I did indeed have the light red lipstick on me.
Mipsy made sure the carriage was ready and waiting as we left the party and also helped both of us onto it in our tired state, "Where are we going now, Grandma where is our new house?" Shaking her head she replied, "I am going to keep it a secret but it is not too far." Getting comfortable in the seat, I started to read through the book Lady Greengrass gave me and the short journey passed quickly, we were only in the air for about 30 minutes but I couldn't see the flowing countryside which surrounded Greengrass Manor, instead I saw a sprawling city with a large river flowing through it, this was London. The carriage lurched as it slowly descended towards the central part of London, flying over King's Cross station and descending finally into a square, the square was surrounded by houses.
Mipsy brought the carriage to a stop outside one of the houses before hopping off and opening our door. As we stepped out of the carriage a man who was waiting for us, the man looked to be in his late 50s with black hair and deep brown eyes. "I am glad that you decided to take me up on the invitation, It is with some sorrow that the line of black will die out with me, one of my grandsons being imprisoned and unable to bear children and the other having died. I am sorry Madam Bodewig that the last of the black family shall fail you." The man bowed towards my grandmother while speaking, before turning toward his elf and commanding "Kreacher help their elf take their bags inside."
As we went inside we were greeted by a woman who bowed deeply towards us before saying "Welcome Lord and Madam Bodewig we have prepared rooms on the second floor for you. The beds are freshly made and are heated so it will be the best temperature for you to sleep." My gran gave a nod before saying "Thank you Walburga it is good to see you again after all these years, it is a shame about Sirius being a traitor but you raised some lovely and strong boys. We are tired and shall retire to our rooms for the night, thank you for your hospitality."
The room I was staying in was big, it had a large four-poster bed with a large mahogany wardrobe near the wall, and there was also a large freestanding magical mirror as well as an ensuite bathroom. "this would normally be the heir room, however, there is no heir black right now so you are free to have it, my lord." Walburga said in response to my questioning look. "Thank you again for the hospitality, goodnight to you Walburga and please we are all family you can just call me Erik." Entering the room I slowly changed into my sleepwear and then climbed into bed. While doing the new nightly routine that I had just made which consisted of the levitation of a small iron ball I found, I started to think about what I wanted to do in this life, I knew I was going to be powerful in the future so I thought that I just wanted a bit of excitement, I also discovered that I would hate to take over the world or lead a particular faction because of all the paperwork and administration I would have to do.
My thoughts drifted to the letter I had forgotten about till now and I quickly got out of bed and retrieved the letter, I promptly opened it to find a letter and a ring. The ring was a golden ring in the shape of a small dragon eating its tail, on the back of the dragon was the crest of the Bodewig family as I held the ring the dragon started to animate as it stretched its wings before biting my hand and drawing some blood. The blood seemed to satisfy the dragon as it gave what I assumed was a happy growl as it crawled to my finger and wrapped itself back into a ring.
As I got bored of trying and failing to remove the ring, I looked back towards the letter and began to read, 'Erik, this ring was left in my possession by your father just before his death with the instructions that I should return it to you when I meet you. The ring itself is the Lord's ring and will signify that you are the lord of your family with the full power it entails, I do not know what the extent of that power is however I do know that the ring itself is enchanted to nullify all poisons and harmful potions that you ingest, it also allows you to generate the matching Lady ring(s) when you marry. The final effect it has is that it has the standard of mind protection on it as well but I don't know the strength of the shields. I hope this ring serves you well in all your endeavours.'
After reading the letter my thoughts about the ring were, 'This thing is pretty nifty.' Seemingly hearing my thoughts a disembodied voice said "That is not all I can do, I will explain everything I can after you get sufficient rest as it is getting very late and you have lessons tomorrow."
