"Cici! Chug it all up! Chug! Chug! Chug!"
"Don't be such a downer! It's just alcohol! It won't hurt you!"
"It's been long since we met, so drink up to your heart's content! My treat!"
Seated across from me were the women I had known since high school. Their faces were already flushed from the drinks they had downed, and they shouted the same lines like a well-rehearsed chorus.
I sighed irritably, feeling the annoyance bubble within me. I had already told them from the beginning that I had a really poor alcohol tolerance.
I was here today because I was "forced" into getting together with my high school friends. They wouldn't stop calling me until I agreed. I couldn't quite remember why I had been friends with them considering how I was such an introvert back then.
More beer mugs were set out in front of me than platters of snacks we had already consumed, and the other two were grinning like a fool while singing gibberish.
