Warm sunlight shine through the gaps in the worn out fabric of the curtains and landed on a white bedsheet. The person on the bed was slightly pale. Her long black hair was sticking to her forehead as sweat slowly dropped down her face.
Luna's eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and she was in a daze. Her head felt heavy. Her nerves were throbbing, and she felt as if they were about to explode. Her back which was on the mattress was drenched in sweat as her clothes clung to her body making her feel extremely uncomfortable. Her eyelashes trembled slightly only then did Luna slowly open her eyes with difficulty.
With blurry eyes she could barely see the peeling old baby-blue paint that covered the walls. As her vision slowly returned Luna realized she was in an oddly familiar room. Her eyes widened in shock realizing that this room looked familiar because she had designed it. This was the room of the female lead in a story she had written when she was 8 years old. She began to slowly recall what had happened to her.
Luna had been cleaning out her childhood home and came across a box filled with old stories that she wrote out of boredom over the years. She felt strongly compelled to read one book in particular. It used to be her favorite of the books and it was the only one she was unable to finish writing. She had regretted not finishing the story so she had slowly begun to read the messy handwriting on the torn pages when suddenly the book began to grow with a strange light. The next thing she knew was that she woke up in a room that looked exactly as she had imagined the room in her story to look like.
In the corner was a small closet and a drawing of a cat was hanging on the wall next to the bed. On the nightstand was a picture of a small girl gripping the hand of a slightly taller boy and a woman was standing behind the two with her hands on their shoulders. As Luna stared at the picture in her hand her head began to pound as memories flowed into her head. Luna had somehow become her own character. Honestly this story was more of a diary. She wrote about her own family but changed a few details. Her family was the same and her friends wouldn't change. The only change with her family was her mother. Her mom had cancer and died a few months after she started to write what she thought was a better version of herself.
Slowly Luna stood from the bed and stumbled over to the closet. She swung the door open and looked into the large mirror inside. She instinctively stepped back in surprise when she saw the girl in the mirror. She was only around 17-years-old and her long black hair that reached her waist swayed as she moved. Her eyes were deep grey making her seem mysterious and unapproachable. She looked exactly like she had 10 years ago. This was her younger self.
After a few deep breaths she closed her eyes and began to recall the memories of this body. She remembered that Luna from the novel grew up in a family just like her own. She only had an older brother and her mom. She had never met her dad and her mom never mentioned him. She wasn't even sure if he was dead or alive. She felt as if this was before the accident. Before her brother died. Everything was exactly the same as it was 10 years ago. This Luna however used to be a rich second generation. Her stepfather had helped her mom start a business and they had become the largest company in the world. Her stepfather stole everything from her mom who had dedicated her youth to him and their business. He gambled away everything they had. In the end he died and left mountains of debt to her mom who was rising two children on her own as he wanted nothing to do with them.
At this moment she decided that from that point on she would become a new Luna. She would restore her family's dignity and get rid of everyone who threatened her or her loved ones. She would use her knowledge from her last life to earn money and revive her family's fallen empire. She would use the abilities of her new body to protect her mom and her brother. She would never go through the pain of losing everything again. This life would be different.
She was pulled out of her thoughts by a knock on the door. "Luna I'm coming in!" A voice said before the door slowly opened revealing a beautiful woman with a worried expression on her face. It was her mother. She looked just how Luna remembered her.
A single tear slid down Luna's cheek as she looked at the tall woman. "Mom…" she whispered as she looked on with mixed emotions.
"Oh! Your awake. Quickly lay down! You only just recovered you shouldn't be moving around yet. The woman scolded gently as she pulled Luna back into the bed.
"I'm fine mom." Luna said slowly as she hugged the woman. Chloe smiled softly seeing that her daughter was alright.
"Okay as long as you're fine. I need to leave for work in a few minutes. I made soup if you get hungry have Leon warm it up for you!" She said softly as she stood up. She placed a soft kiss on her daughter's forehead before walking out of the room and closing the door behind her.
As soon as she was alone Luna felt a stabbing pain in her head and information flooded her mind. This was something she had experienced in her previous life. However unlike before she knew exactly what was happening so she didn't panic. She had only recently excepted her power before she died. The same thing had happened years ago and she had written about it in this book. It was the only time she truly acknowledged her power. It happened at the same time years ago. When she was 17 she was pushed into the pond at school and come down with a cold. As soon as she fully recovered a piercing headache came and went quickly and somehow afterwards she could do things that she never thought possible.
She never tried to tell anyone. She knew they would think she was crazy. Even she herself believed she was insane for a while. It took a full 10 years for her to accept that it was real. It doesn't make sense for a person to be able to become something else and it's just as impossible as someone being able to shoot ice and fire out of their hands.
