She tilted her head a bit to the side, looking at William like she was watching a cockroach. Her voice was full of arrogance and condescension.
"It is not polite to stare."
She answered, pursing her cherry red lips. Her eyes flickered to the sketchbook on his lap, then rolled at the sight.
William only feel irrational by her words but decide to keep calm "Do you have anything else expect that, miss? It's not a crime if you stares at someone." William said.
The woman scoffs, crossing her arms over her chest. Her chin tilted upwards, like she was above him.
"Perhaps not a crime. But you, a lowly person, have no right to stare at Mister Bukater." The woman said.
Willam, a lowly person..
A few young ladies nearby let out barely audible giggles. William felt the heat go all up to his face. She was just making fun of him, trying to humiliate him. But he try to ignor that feeling as he speek again
"Thanks for nailing it."
William said sarcastically. Letting out a soft scoffed before looking away from her, trying his best to ignoring her
The woman's eyes widened like she was surprised that he answered back with sarcasm. Her friends around her started whispering, while she let out a scoff of her own. She took a step forward.
"How dare you! I'll have you know that Mister Bukater is an honorable man, engaged to a woman from one of the greatest families in America."
Her voice was a bit higher now, loud enough that the people around them were starting to pay attention. Some of the rich men's gazes turned in their direction.
The woman's friends had sly grins on their faces, watching the drama unfold. Aiden felt that he was in a cage, all eyes on him, while the rich girl kept talking.
"Someone like you are below his level. You're just a pathetic little nobody. How could you even think about staring at him. You're just a lowly…"
She looked over to William's hand, still holding the sketchbook. Then, she reached out like she was going to take it.
